Replacing water pump - 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis

    I'm about to take off the actual water pump and one of the nuts on the rods is stuck pretty tight. I lubricated the nut and let it set for a while. With all the rust on the pump I think its OEM. Any ideas on how to loosen it easily enough?

Drain rad and remove hoses and fan shroud catching coolant as you go. I like the rad out so there's more room and less likely to damage it with tools. Take off belts by loosening alternator or if equipt with tension idler pulley be careful it doesn't spring at you when you loosen it. Remove fan bolts,fan and pulley. Remove pump and clean old gasket off motor. Reverse the process to reinstall. Ask for torque specs(tightening specs) when you get new pump.

Try to put a little heat to the nut when its hot hold the wax from a candle on the bold the wax will help the nut to turn easyer
