1992 Ford Taurus Starter

I just replaced the starter to the car, when I have the car in the run position I have full power to the car, then I go to start it and turn the key and nothing happens at all, no sound no nothing?? When I have the key in the run position & I go to the starter and jump it from there it will start up with no problems. Any Suggestions on tests or possible problems ? "CHEAP" !

I believe the starter solenoid on the fords are separate from the starter. If that's the case the solenoid could be the culprit. It may also be the ignition switch ( where the key goes in) There are several connections that take place through it and contacts can go bad. Fortunately, switchs usually aren't very expensive, maybe 15-20$. Same with the solenoid. Good luck. Please rate this. Thanks

If you have a manual, like Chilton or Haynes and a multimeter you can test the relay and solenoid to see if they're ok.

Do 2002 ford Taurus 24 valve v-6 have a starter relay mounted on the firewall?

I don't think so. The starter has a solonoid on it. There isn't a relay involved. Check for power at the small wire on the starter when the key is in the "start" position. If there is power there ,the starter is bad. If not, could be neutral safety switch or ignition switch.

Truck turns over and starts when I connect battery???? No key is even in the ignition.

Maybe the ignition is bad- or your starter solenoid stuck in engaged position?

Where is the starter relay located on a 1992 ford taurus

Hi there:
On 1992 Ford Taurus 3.0L 6cyl the Starter Relay is located under hood, driver side, front side of strut tower, mounted on fenderwell.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My 92 taurus wont start, you turn the key all the power works, but no clicks,no sound, nothing.. I have checked all fuses, all good... has a new battery that is charged... Is there a relay or selonoid...

Start with your connections to battery and starter, Also check your ground from your battery. Make sure it's not working lose. Then you can check see if getting power to starter, If you are getting power to your starter and it does'nt turn over Replace starter, The selonoid comes with it . You can get a aftermarket "rebuilt" for about $40Good luck to you hope this helps some.

I have a 1995 Ford Taurus and it wont turn over? It doesn't make clicking noices. Will not jump and all lights do come on.

It looks like your starter is gone.Solenoid is fine that is why you have lights. Test starter by crossing over with a screwdriver the positive and negative posts on the solenoid. If starter doesnt engage then replace it.

1996 Ford Taurus LX wagon. 3.0L 24v Duratec. Stalled leaving red light then no power at all. Towed home. Starter tests passed at home by manually putting power from B+ to 's' clip on starter. Starter also...

I would look at the positive cable at the battery and at the starter. Pull the cabel off and a continuity test to see if the wire has a internal break if the wire gets even a pinhole it can build corrosion on the inside of the wire and when a current is put through it it seperates (from the resistance and arc from corrosion) causing the wire to seperate internaly.

Hope this will get you started!

My Ford Taurus 1994 only clicks when trying to even when jump sta

You need to see if the battery is holding 11 volts or more while trying to crank it over. If it is, then you need to see if the same is getting to the starter motor. If the voltage looks good at the starter, the starter is bad.
At the starter you will have a larger wire from the battery, that always has positive voltage, and a smaller wire that has positive voltage only while trying to start it.

Its not turning over

take the starter off and take it to autozone, they test them free. Or find the solenoid and cross the positive with the side attachment.it may be that or a bad battery

Solenoids

Follow the positive cable from the battery and it will run right into the solenoid
