If you understand what is going on under your hood.. the wires being spliced May not be your problem. Check that they are not bare if they are then fix it. The problem may be a dirty intake due to the engine overloading all the time. When it's cold it runs good since that's what the choke does. Take your air filter off and follow the tubing to the aluminum intake. Clean that out very good with a rag full of carburetor cleaner.

You have some otyher issue here besides the pressure problem.

Check Fuel Pump/Pick Up Line & Filter in tank, if the Tank is Dented or Damaged that could cause it not to pickup that last 1/4 Tank. It could MAINLY be your fuel pump though. Because with the car full of gas, the fuel pump does have to work near as hard. Hope this helps, James Booth

Inside the gas tank. Need to drop the gas tank by removing the straps. than disconect the hoses and slide the tank out. Remove the lock ring on top and lift the unit out. Some pumps can be purchased individually and others as a unit called a sending unit.

Circular type fuse located on or near the Interior fuse block.

If you have ANY DAMP SURFACE AT ALL on that Tank You DO Have a Leak and it Must be Found,
The Steal Fuel Lines around the tank Get Rusty and Leak You must ELIMINATE Any POSSIBLE Leak, as this can Turn into A Tragidy.

it can be the head gasket or the head might be cracked or warped or or it could be a intake gasket

Your head gasket must be bad, allowing coolant to flow into an oil passage in the head.
