Question about 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Dead batt. ,put in new batt. when I tried to hook up neg. cable had a strong arc @ sounded like something was trying to run .like the starter but the engine was turning over?
Put new battery in 2002 pt cruiser. only get a click out of the starter. i want to take the starter off and check it out. it looks like its hard to get to it. please advise and furnish information on what has to be removed to remove starter. do you think something else could be wrong and not the starter or selenoid.

Starter power wire could be grounding out causing it to lock the starter in even if the engine is running, as well as making the cable arc at the battery. I would first trace the wire from the battery to the starter and make sure it isn't grounding somewhere. If it isn't it could be the starter going bad internally. My guess would be the wiring, especially where it bolts to the starter.
