2004 Taurus. Will not start at intermittent

2004 Taurus. Will not start at intermittent times. To date have rocked ignition switch on and of several times. Tachometer advances to max RPM setting when ignition switch is in start position even though engine is not running. Allowed car to sit for a few minutes and it had always started. Today - all accessories work, lights are bright, horn is loud but no starter action. Switched batteries from my truck. The Taurus battery starts the truck but the truck battery delivers same no-starter-response when insatlled in the Taurus. Suggestions please.

I have the same car but don't have that problem with this one however, I did with the 99 I traded for this one. I figured out that if the wheels were not left straight, any degree of angle facing either direction, would freeze something in the steering column and not allow it to start. Had it towed twice before the tech said he had the same problem in the past. Never happened after that. The prob I had with the 2004 Taurus, bought a cheap battery from wal-mart and it ran everything but my car, tech said it's probably the reason the alternator had failed. Check your brand of battery. My battery light stayed on for two months, started fine, switched the battery from the wal-mart one, light went off instantly.

Lincoln Town Car intermittently won't start. Engine cranks over but it won't fire. Later it will start, sometimes several times in a row, but then will inexplicably refuse to start again.

This sounds like an ignition module issue. It will not be available from any auto parts store as it has to be programmed by the dealer.

What would stop an engine in 2004 kia sedona from starting but it turns?

Could be... it's out of gas, or the fuel pump has failed, or the fuel pressure regulator has failed or you have a poor electrical connection or blown fuse, or your spark plugs are all fouled, or the car's computer has died, or you've lost your timing belt/chain, or the crank position sensor has failed. Check the simplest one first. Is there plenty of good fresh gasoline in it? Next, is your "Check Engine" light on? If so, have someone get the failure code from the computer with an OBDII scan tool. If not, check for If good, check fuel pressure and flow rate.

2007 GMC Yukon intermitent starting problem. New battery in August 2011, which has been rechecked by dealer to be okay. Approx 30 days ago vehicle would not start with key, although all electrical power...

According with your comments (in other question), it's very difficult to tell how much longer it might be going this intermittent problem. You have informed about suspicions of failure in the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch)?

Other symthoms there? I could adventure to test the security system or some re-synchonized setting.

2004 Taurus DOHC; All COPs and spark plugs have been replaced. Intermittent problem (car may run great for weeks at a time) Then engine runs very poorly, and these codes come up: P0351, P0352,...

codes p0350-p0360 are all coil primary/secondary failure codes. could possibly be the pcm its self if you have already replaced all 6 coils and plugs. there have also been cases i have seen where a remote start system is the cause, if one is installed check the wiring where they tie into the ignition system

On my 2000 ford taurus the starting system white/pink line went to the transmission range sensor or(neutral saftey switch), It was the switch that was intermittantly shorting the starting circuit.
