2001 Dodge Stratus engine won't even try to turn over
2001 Dodge Stratus ES 2.7L V6, battery has been fully charged & tested at Auto Zone and checked out as good. Starter Relay was replaced to no avail. When the key is turned, the car won't even try to turn over once, no clicking sound or anything -- just no sound at all.
All exterior lights work, horn works, digital tachometer works, although when the key is on "Accessories" the A/C, radio and clock on the top of the center console (above A/C controls) do not turn on at all.
I'm completely stumped with this and a little upset that I had to take off the driver's side front tire, mudflap and front bumper just to get to the battery & find out it's okay. Any help would be appreciated!

Check all fuses,,, starter Ok? the ingnition switch most likely ,,check to see if there is a power fuse or a strap type fuse that is burned into fusable links also if any are present.they would be on or close to a positive acess for jumping car

The way to check for an over or under charge is to connect your volt meter to the battery, before starting the vehicle.
You should have a reading of 12.5 to 13 volts. If it's 11.8 like you stated or less, it means battery is not fully charged, or it's bad. Now start the car & check voltage again while running the engine, the voltage should exceed 14+ volts, this means your Alternator is charging, the voltage should drop after battery has been charging for awhile. When you turn the engine off after letting it charge the battery, & if the battery is good, you should now have 12.5 volts to 13 volts.
Now to answer your question, the Voltage Regulator is inside of the Altenator, I believe you xcan take the alternator apart to replace it, or simpler to just replace the complete alternator.
Transmission is in limp mode. This enables you to drive the car to service. Anytime there is a transmission code in the computer even if nothing is wrong it will stay in limp mode until the code is erased. Most retail auto parts stores will run an obd2 diagnostic scan to determine the problem and erase existing codes, no charge (Auto Zone, Advance and others)
Sounds as though the battery is no good, unless you know otherwise & also had it tested Charging a battery doesn't address it's internal condition You have battery cables that corrode inside & can be voltage drop tested You have the starter & solenoid,ignition sw & such, to name a few,lots of possible causes & things to check
Change all your relays,especially in the engine bay,check your idler control valve/servo for faulty or short circuited.Also check all the fuse boxes for contamination,Spray with circuit board cleaner or something similar.
Go to web site WWW.HMASERVICE.COM and register your vehicle by VIN #. You'll then have access to shop manuals, wiring diagrams, technical service bulletins, illustrations, etc. Provided there is no problem with the vehicle's wiring, find out what the charging current is to the battery. I've seen batteries which TEST good, but when under a CHARGE short out internally. Example: Tested a battery & charging system on a Hyundai Elantra, the battery tested "Healthy" but indicated there was a CHARGING SYSTEM PROBLEM. I checked the battery voltage while the engine was running and found the battery voltage at 14.3 VDC (which was normal). I then used a Digital DC Clamp meter arount the positive (+) battery cable & found the battery was charging at 70 Amps!.. it was supposidly already fully charged (should have only been taking 4 to 6 amps when fully charged).

In my 2001 Dodge Stratus ES sedan (2.7L V6), the EGR has shiny piping that runs into the side of the black plastic intake manifold on top of the engine. The other end runs down beside the engine heads and routes into the rear exhaust manifold.
Low pressure side of system. should have blue or black cap on lines to A/C.follow lines from compresser.If not sure maybe you can get a shop like auto zone to maybe give you an idea.They will help You out if you bougt the equipment to charge it with.It should be 134 refrigerent.look to spend 20 or 30 $for one with a pressure guage!DO NOT try to put it in high pressure side. nipple should NOT fit on that one tho. Just be carefull !Car needs to be running & A/C on fully to charge it. Hope this helps.
Need to check the condition of the battery. Use a volt meter and check the voltage before trying to start the motor. Have someone to try to start the motor while you check the voltage on battery at the same time. If the voltage dropps to either a 10 or less, replace the battery. If the battery is 4 years old or older then replace it. Hope this will help you.
