How to recharge ac

There are many ways to recharge an ac system but to do it correctly is a bit more in-depth. You can read the ac tag under the hood of your vehicle and purchase a can of coolant then hook it up to the low pressure side as shown on the can. Start the engine and follow their instructions. If you have a leak you should add UV dye to the system to locate the leak then repair as needed. To recharge system I recommend purging the system to a proper catchment contaner, recycle the refrigerant as required. Put an ac manifold on the high and low ports of the ac system (they are sized to only fit in the proper location) then attach a moisture removing vacuum pump create a vacuum in the system of 20lbs at sea level or more. Close the high and low pressure valves and disconnect the vacuum pump connect the refrigerant to the vacuum line, start the vehicle, turn on the ac (fan on low) add the amount of refrigerant that your vehicle tag requires.

How to add freon to a 2009 dodge journey

You need 22oz for a "front only" a/c system and 32oz of R-134a refrigerant for "front and rear" a/c system.

The compressor is off likely due to insufficient refrigerant charge in the system. Once the minimum required charge has be provided, the compressor clutch should engage (check for blown fuse if it does not). Refrigerant is added only to the low or suction side of the compressor and only as a gas. Do not invert the refrigerant tank in an attempt to add refrigerant as a liquid! Placing the tank in warm water is a better way to fill the system (raises the pressure in the tank) without concern for slugging the compressor.

Where do you add refrigerent

Refrigerant is part of the A/C system. You should have special guages to add it to the system to prevent overcharging. There are do it yourself cans available at many stores but it is highly recommended that it be done professionally. If your system needs refrigerant added to it then there is a leak somewhere in the system.

I have a 98 mazda 626, the coolant is low, I'm confused as to where the low pressure gauge is located on the engine and do not have an owners manual, help I'm buning up

Are you talking about coolant or refrigerant? There is no low pressure gauge on the engine. I am going to assume you are referring to the A/C refrigerant as you say you are burning up. I am also going to assume you are wanting to know where the low pressure inlet valve is so you can add refrigerant to the system. You have a leak or you would not need to add refrigerant. Know that it is illegal to add refrigerant R134 to any system with a leak until you have the leak repaired. You also must add the correct amount to the system. This requires repairing the leak and then having the proper gauges to determine when you have added the correct amount of refrigerant. My advice, and the only advice I can legally give you, is to take your vehicle to a professional and have the leak repaired and the system charged.

Where is the low side ac input for adding refrigerant in the 03 lincoln navigator

How do you know you need to add?

First you leak test, then use refrigerant
gauges to look at system

If you have a leak you evacute system & repair

You shouldn't even be involved with A/C without
proper training & equipment.

If you add you will allow air into the system, add too
much & cause compressor damage.

COMMON SENSE--if you need to add you have a leak

---if you add to a leaking system you
are knowingly poluting the atmosphere
which is against federal regulations

How do you replace the a/c receiver/drier?

Have to evacuate the refrigerant from the system using a specia machine (don't vent to atmosphere), The unscrew the a/c receiver/drier connections and replace.

Vacuum down the system and then add the refrigerant back that came out of the system (recycling and recovery of refrigerant).

The air conditioner will blow air out but the air is not cold. What could be the problem?

Your system is low on refrigerant and needs to be checked for leaks and recharged with R134. If the system has sufficient refrigerant (base pressure of 70 - 90 lbs pressure checked with A/C gauges) then check to see if your a/c compressor clutch is engaging. If it is, then the compressor is bad. If the clutch is not engaging (you'll here it click when you turn on the a/c set to coldest setting), then you have a bad connection of the wire plug to the compressor, or a bad connection at the receiver/dryer.

Charging the System

  1. Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
  2. Connect an R-134a A/C service center to the low-side and high-side service gauge port valves following the operating instructions provided by the equipment manufacturer.
  3. Set the refrigerant charge amount, and charge the refrigerant system following the instructions provided by the equipment manufacturer.
