Question about 1999 Buick Regal

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Regal GS. The check engine light flashes above 70 MPH. I got the code scanned and it first said misfire on cylinder 1. then now it says misfire on multiple or random cylinders. i have changed plugs, wires, and swapped coil packs and also dumped injector cleaner in the tank. i also got a p0440 code for the emission system but now that has gone away. i am wondering what else to try and if the p0440 code cause the other code to go off or the other way around. everything runs fine and doesnt run rough or struggle while driving.

What if the check engine light is blinking only above 30 mph and not when accelerate on parking?

When a check engine light is flashing, you stop
using the car

That is a Class A converter ruining, serious cylinder
misfire & it did not just start, some sort of misfire may
have been there for months & you failed to know it

You changed one or two coils, not the really bad one

Check engine light is on, any speed above 30mph it gives a flashing check engine light, acceleration feels bogged down, engine idle is rough and shakes the truck

I'm guessing you have over 100000 miles , definitely replace all the spark plugs and ignition cables and cap and rotor if your motor is such equipped. If you want a better idea of which cylinders are misfiring, go to your local Checker or Autozone and ask them for code retrieval, codes stored will give you an idea of what is failing. Code po300 is multiple misfire, po301 is cyl #1, po302 is cyl #2 and so forth.

My 06 KIA Rio while driving about 30 mph lost 1/2 the power and check engine light started flashing along with what sounds like a misfiring. Sounds close to stalling when I pulled car over and stopped.

Not surprising when a 4 cylinder engine looses a cylinder or two.
You would need to have someone scan the computer for trouble codes and proceed from there. The codes should tell you which cylinders lost power.

I have a 99 marquis. My engin light has been on for awhile because of an evap leak. When I was driving 70 mph on the freeway it started flashing. I tried counting the flashes but I was driving so I might...

Not a specfic code, but it means the problem is more serious and needs to be repaired now. The flash was probably from the engine misfire. Scan for codes and repair it before further, more costly damage occurs.

Engine yellow light is flashing and engine is not running smoothly

Hi It sounds like the engine management system has detected a fault. I`m assuming its a petrol engine and the most common problem is one of the coils has gone.
To find the exact fault the car needs to have a diagnostic check which will tell you which coil or other component has malfunctioned.
Good luck i`m sure it won`t be a big problem

After running 70-75 mph for for 2-3 min service engine light starts flashing but goes right back off when speed is reduced to under 60-65 mph

a flashing check engine light means a misfire, you should go to one of your local parts stores and have them read your code. your code will tell you which cylinder was misfiring and if there are any other codes that may also be related to your problem. but it could need anything from a fuel filter to a catalytic conveter or just a tune-up, getting those codes could greatly narrow it down
