Why does my 2006 Pontiac Montana feel like it kicks at 20-40 mph? - insert more words for faster question answering-

sounds like a bad motor or transmission mount try to step on the gas hard and release it quickly while in park do you feel the same thing if you do a motor mount is no good you'll see the engine twisting or raising up on one side the reason why I think its happening at slow speed is the transmission shifts gears and this lets the motor settle back down if not try with no body behind you quick acceleration then wait 5 seconds and hard stop when the car is stopped and you feel a bang from underneath the transmission mount is no good

Losing power going up hills

sounds pretty normal. what speed do you try out the passing gear? anything above 35-45 mph and it will feel like neutral. Passing gear is actually only 1st gear. When you press down the pedal, it forces the transmisson to shift into low gear.

Why does it kicks at 40mph

Sounds like it could be going into overdrive or locking up the clutch in the t-r-a-nsmission. Go get some SEA FOAM t-r-a-nsmission treatment and add it and run it thru the gears and drive it around.IF the fluid needs replaced, then do it after doing this. don-ohio (:^)

When i shift to reverse or drive, the transmission kinda kicks like it's slipping. I was told that the lower motor mount may be bad

Indeed the engine mounts can cause this type of symptom, have a local shop check the engine for excessive lift up on gear engagement.

ABS system works fine after 76 mph is reached. Until then when I apply the brakes it acts as though Im sliding on ice. I can feel it fighting to stop in my peddle. Also it does not want to shift out of...

this sounds like the cpu in the car playing up (the cars computer brain) have it chequed out at the shop to find out if any codes are showing up

Overdrive factors

When the car is just cruising along at approx.50+ MPH push the O/D button. You should feel the gears change higher and if you have an RPM guage then it should drop as well to fewer RPMs. This would be normal driving conditions. O/D will not kick in until the last regular gear (3rd or 4th depending on model)  had been shifted into. O/D automatically kicks out when slowing down and the transmission shifts to a lower gear. Thus the O/D has no function at slower speeds/gears and does not need to be shifted ( on or off ) except in the very first example given here.

Transmission stuck in forth gear check engine light is on.

Your TCU (transmission Control Unit) is bad. it is located behind the passenger side kick panel. you can purchase it on ebay for about 79.00 with exchange.

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
