Question about Hyundai Motor 2004 Sonata

1 Answer

Door ajar light and alarm comes on when the car is in motion.

2004 Hyundai Sonata. It does this when I go around a curve or bump the door. If I bump the door all the locks pop open too.

Where is the switch located? I don't know if it is a short or not. What worries me is the door locks popping open. Not to mention the beeping is driving me nuts.

2000 hyundai sonata passenger door lock stuck in locked position

If your talking about the teeth/latch that actually engage around the pin to hold the door closed and not the lock you puhs down to lock it. all you have to do is get a screwdriver or anything small and strong you can stick in it and pull the tooth back into the "open" position. You might have to pull the handle out like your opening the door normally while you do this.

Hyundai 2002 sonata,,,, car has power locks.

You are correct in your assumption about a relay... there are two relays. One is for 'LOCKING' the other is for 'UN-LOCKING.' They are both labeled as "LOCK" relays (1 & 2). You can verify if a relay is bad by swapping one with the other. If the problem moves to 'unlocking' the doors, but will NOW LOCK - the relay is bad. If not, further troubleshooting is necessary.

Front Doors Won't Open?

Hyundai sonata have small spring about 3 cms long which corrodes and brakes. When this happens you cannot open the front two doors. you have to unfortunately cut a hole in the door trim and open the door by realeasing the latch with hand and then replace the spring.
