Question about 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage

Open Question

'97 Mitsubishi Mirage has problems starting and idling.

I just lost my job and had no car; My friend bought a new car so she gave me hers, only it came with some problems and has taken a hit to the hood. I have a '97 Mitsubishi Mirage DE. The car worked for a few trips to the store and back but had trouble starting (especially when cold), it would make noise while in idle, and then finally it died a couple times just trying to run to 7/11. It died at the light, and then wouldn't go faster than 20 up the hill back home. I finally made it to my street and it died right infront of my neighbor's house and would not turn back on. We pushed it into the driveway. I haven't driven it again, but I can start it, but it makes a horrible noise. The noise is not so bad if it put it into neutral. I have no money to get this fixed yet, and could have got a job today if I had a vehicle. Any ideas on what the problem is? I have a friend who may come over and look at it. I kind of want an idea of what this problem is going to cost to get the car working alright.

with the battery fully charged try scraping the positive over the terminal on the battery and see if it sparks like a draw is sucking out amps if theres no draw on the battery it wont spark at all (good) if it sparks (bad) you have something grounded and killing your battery.. gl

How do i replace my ignition lock cylinder in my 2000 Mitsubishi mirage without the key?

best advice is to get a locksmith to do the job. They will be able to put in a new tumbler, supply the correct fob keys for the immobiliser and possible program it to the vehicle . IF not you will have to take the keys and the vehicle to a service dealer to have it programmed.

Why are only two cylinders firing on my 1995 mitsubishi mirage

It sounds more like the electrical connections are disrupted. Did you replace the entire plug wires? They do fail after a few years in use, and the older carbon wires especially go down.

the air conditioning system has most likely drawn moisture this is not good take it to have the system recovered and a new restrictor valve put in. leak checked and recharged
