SOURCE: 2004 Cavalier clutch cylinder mysteriously empty

the fluid is going somewhere of course but your clutch lines do not run into the transmission itself it runs to a slave cyclinder that should be on the side of your transmission most likely where you seen that bleeder valve at normally if you can put fluid in the master cyclinder and you can shift gears fine it is your slave cyclinder that is going out if this is so all you have to do is unbolt it from the side of the tranny and replace it. It should only have 2 bolts, 1 line, and a rubber grommet on one end with a rod in it if you take it off just put the new one on the same way just in reverse order. hope every thing goes well.

SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

SOURCE: Low / Soft Clutch Pedal, 1995 Rodeo 2W 2.6L

my rodeo had the same problem i corrected it by bleeding the slave cylinder. and is located on the driver side on the gearbox you will find it if you follow the line from the master cylinder down to the gearbox and if that helps but happens again it might have to be replaced.

SOURCE: clutch cylinder inside car is it broke

you have to bleed the air out of it. If there is not fluid leaking from the master cylinder on the firewall.it can leak on the inside of car or the out side if the master cylinder is bad.first make sure the reservoir stays full then open the bleeder on slave cylinder. this is called gravity bleeding. once fluid comes out, tighten bleeder, pump pedal one time loosen bleeder while holding clutch pedal down and then tighten. do this repeatedly until no air comes out. you can pump pedal several times, then hold and bleed however you like but I have better luck with individual pumps. just make sure that the lines hooked to slave cylinder are tight and there are no air leaks. and that the line does not go below the slave cylinder because sometimes air gets trapped in the lowest part of system.

I have troubles shifting gears they grind. The clutch pedal is very weak and low but it still spring up a little. What could be wrong?

If a manual clutch , adjust the free play at the clutch fork around 1/8 inch. if hydraulic top up fluid or bleed out air.

Manual transmission wont go in gear

You have a clutch slave cylinder failure and the reservoir is empty. Replace the slave cylinder and bleed the air of the system after refilling the reservoir.

Car stuck in first gear wont shift at all

Suspect the clutch is frozen and even when you press the pedal it does not disengage. If it shifts into other gears without the engine running. you will need to break the clutch free. Put it is high gear with the clutch depressed and rock the car back and forth with a bunch of friends pushing on it.

It's normal that won't shift into 3rd and overdrive because you have transmission code it's a default mode
P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio
P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On
P0218 Transmission Over Temperature Condition
you need to solve those codes first

hope it helps

1999 toyota rav4 wont go into first gear, i just repaced the clutch, clutch slave cylinder and clutch master clutch

Did you bleed the slave cylinder? Also, check pedal free play (about 1/2 inch) and pedal height (not sure on your Rav, you'll have to check with Toyota).
Only first gear, or difficulty going into all gears?

Turbo 400 wont shift from 2nd too 3rd

If your clutch pedal feels normal and has no play, its most likely your syncros assisting that gear. The first thing I would do is inspect to see if you have enough fluids in the transmission. Then I would bleed the clutch slave cylinder and see if that helps or check the clutch pedal wire and see if theres any play. Hope this helps!

300Zx will not shift out of 5th gear

is there any pedal pressure when you step on the clutch? I had a similiar problem with my 91 300zx tt....it was stuck in third gear, no pedal pressure on the clutch whatsoever....i had cracked the pivot ball and the clutch slave 'popped out'. i had to pull the trans to fx the problem because i could not reattach the clutch fork onto the release bearing with the trans in the vehicle....you need to bleed the system...gravity bleed the slave until there are no air bubbles. make sure you top off the clutch master cylinder in the process.....then bleed the clutch operating cylinder.....it is in the passenger front hood near the power steering resivoir....top off the clutch master cylinder again. i hope this helps.

Clutch won't engage--cannot shift

hydraulic clutch needs servicing or needs bleeding like a brake system wont work with air in the lines neither will hydraulic clutch's. you shouldnt have to change the clutch just service the slave cylinder ,that should give you back some pedal to use..you might want a mechanic to bleed it or have it replaced.

Shifting problem 2001 Neon

there is a way to pressure bleed the system. depress and lock the clutch pedal down with the use of a pedal depresser or a stick, long extension something, with the pedal depressed crack the bleeder open and the pressure plate springs should force fluid out of the bleeder. note in some cases the pedal will stick in the depressed position. without the springs from the pressure plate. this is normal. just manually return the pedal to its start position, and repeat until air is purged.
