It won't start. It is not the starter nor the battery.

It goes click click click click click, after we try and jump it. It was raining hard yesterday when I was driving home. Got home parked on angle on the incline, put the car in park pulled out my keys and ran into the house. Came out last evening to move it and it won't start.

THE STARTER HAS 2 PARTS TO IT. THE STARTER ITSELF AND THE SOLENOID INSIDE. PROBABLY THE SOLENOID INSIDE THE STARTER OR THERE IS A SHORT IN YOUR WIRING.

Clicking is the starter solenoid-- either not pulling
the starter in-- because the battery is run down-- or
the solenoid or starter has failed

Maybe the starter bolts came loose & it is jammed

Can you turn the motor over by hand --off the crank damper

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has a new battery but won't start. When I try to jump start it, it just makes a clicking sound but won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

Won't start but can hear starter make a click noise when trying to start with key

will it start with a jump ? if it does replace the battery and have the charging system tested, if it will not start with a jump then most likely you will need to replace the starter.

2007 chevy cobalt ls won't start battery good starter good turn key nothing no click nothing all lites work on dash and radio works jumped starter with screwdriver turns. Over but won't start...

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

My truck won't start. It won't turn over... only clicking noise.. even with a jump. the headlights work but very dimly.. orange lights next to headlights flash on and off dimly consistently as well...

When a battery is very low, even a jump won't work because the battery takes too much out of the jump. Take the battery out and have it charged up.
If it won't take a charge, get a new one.
But also make sure the battery terminals and cable ends are shiny and greased.

If you really want to be sure, put a voltmeter on it.
A good battery should be 12.5.
When you crank it should go down to about 10.
If it goes below 9, either the battery is too low, or the starter is draining too much.
If it never goes below 11, it is not draining enough, and the solenoid is probably bad.
If when you stop cranking, it comes back up to over 11, then the battery is good, so the starter is probably bad.
