Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

1 Answer

Car misfires and wants to die when A/C is on.

My 2001 mitsubishi eclipse, havent had A/C in about a year or so. In that year I did a lot of replacing. My compressor had a leak, which I fixed, and now everytime I turn on my A/C, my cars RPMs fluctuate and car wants to die out, but then jump back to normal, and keep doing this, its not bad, but very noticeable.

I got new plugs, wires, coils, rotor cap and dist, battery, intake valves, new freon.

What can it be? This just has me stumped. But notice that the A/C hasnt been on in a long while, maybe the car needs to get used to it?

I cleaned the IAC, no change.

Its like once i step off the throttle, the rpms go down, and dip below 500 mark and pop back up.

    Maybe injectors?

What does the Idle Air Control Valve do

When the car is not moving the IAS motor regulates the idle speed. IT has very little to do with the speed

2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT dies when I shift from park to reverse. Runs fine in P,D, N. 113,000 miles on the car. Bought it brand new and really haven't had a lot of problems, I have always done regular...

have your torque converter checked sounds like its going to the locked position when you are in reverse. your torque converter should only lock in after you get up to 30-40 MPH then should unlock after you slow down or stop.

Intermittent misfiring

Had the same thing. The didtributor was going bad. Lived with it for a few months finally it died. 1 year after replacing the distributor the problem started again. Glad I got a warranty on the distributor. Running great now on the second distributor.

I have a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse i change the battery but my car turn on turn off

this happened to me as well. I had it towed after it died on the road after jumping it in a parking lot. I had just replaced the battery and couldn't understand why it was still dying after jumping it. The mechanic said it was the corroded wires that were connecting to the battery. He replaced them for about $80.
