It sounds like the bearing in the blower motor has gotten to the end of it's life and it's time to replace the blower motor. You can go to Auto Zone for a new Blower motor and they will have the step by step instruction do getting the job done with common tools and about an hour of your time. It's going to be a good thing to replace the Blower motor speed resistor at the same time since there not that expensive since your going to replace the blower motor. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

Its located under your glove compartment on the passengers side of the car. You will have to remove the grey piece being held in by 3 plastic fasteners. Its the piece with the light for the passenger flour board in it. after you get that out you will see the bottom of the blower motor. You will have to remove 3 screws, a wire plug and a rubber hose that just pulls off to get it out. Hope this helps.

It requires you to be pretty contorted to get the old blower out. You should probably go ahead and replace the resistor pack that is mounted in the bottom of the duct work directly behind the blower. If you have to go buy both, go to a place like Advanced Auto or Auto Zone. Stay away from the dealers for these parts. $130 total for the blower and the resistor pack.  Local GM dealer quotes $280 just for the blower motor!

Keep me posted and hope this helps.

My 2006 VW Jetta is making loud, screaming/screeching, sound from the passenger side-front, behind the the dash/glove box, between the engine and wheel.

I would like to think it is the electric fan behind the radiator that is screeching. When you stop the car, everything should stop, but that fan. That fan is supposed to cool the radiator, even after the engine is off and the car stops. It would not be so bad, because it does not run as much, in cold weather, but in hot weather, it should start sooner and run longer.
I needs to be replaced.
Be blessed.

Speedometer makes noise when cold. how do I lubricate where the cable and speedometer connect?

old post

http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/speedo/unsafe-at-any-speed.html#noise

well , if the head makes noise its sure is not the cable.
99% sure.
use $5 stethoscope to cluster face, some needles scream.
hear that , as is common, its the ***** scream, of IM AT END OF MY LIFE, (needle bushing shot) btw no speedo shops in usa will touch this cluster, not one.

the cable can vibrate, and make a weak sound
but if rusted, inside, rust can cause any sound it wants.
thank about that. but will be in the cable not the head.

do not put grease in the rear of the head, it will migrate in to the head and wreck it.
use a new cable, it has non migratory grease inside.

"special it is"

the last one i did, had to buy 3 used heads to make one good one.
good luck on car this old, finding past that work.
both suzuki and geo no longer sells heads. so.....

I have a 2004 Ford explorer. No heat but blowing cold air out....also hearing a clicking sound in the dash area.

if you have the automatic temperature control or electronic air temperature control your problem is probably the air temperature blend control motor. you'll have to replace it. checked the linkage from the blend door lever to the control motor first. make sure it is connected properly. if it is, play sure finger on the lever and feel for the vibration associated with the clicking. if you can feel it, replace the control motor.

sounds like the door that switches between hot/cold is not closing all the way, it is controlled by an electronic module.
