To loosen the fan , Turn the nut counterclockwise .you need to hold the waterpump pulley when you are doing this. Most auto part stores have the wrenchs to make the removal job easier

I have a 1999 dodge durango and the enigne is squeaking, what would be the cause of this?

Many things can make an engine squeak. First you have to determine if it is in fact the engine, a belt or something driven by a belt. I would start by taking the belts off and briefly starting the engine. If it still squeaks you may have a major engine problem. If the squeak is gone you'll have to figure out if it's a belt or something driven by a belt.

I take it the fan you replaced is the one that is belt driven on the front of your engine.2001threw 2003 durangos have an electric fan that is attached to the radiator.if you remove the fan shroud clips and remove the shroud the electric fan should be there.chances are theres a blown fuse for cooling fan, a bad relay or its just unpluged. If you go to and sign up for my zone(it's all free too),thay have a free repair guide on line and theres a pic of the electric fan you are looking for.hope this helps you.thanks for using fixya........Ray

200 Dodge Durango Clutch Fan

The fan shroud needs to be removed. I think there is a clip where you can seperate the bottom portion of the fan shroud to the top. Once the shroud has been removed everything is a piece of cake.

2000 durango over heats. the fan works and i already changed water pump and took out thermostat any ideas what i'm missing

you got more water than coolant.water pump drive belt slipping radiator core blocked cylinder block core blocked. or grille restricted.a bad radiator pressure cap. if all is good you might have head gasket leak.
