Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Intermittently all power lost after attempting to start

2002 2500 Chevy HD Duramax. I have been having a problem where the truck seems to have power but the second I turn the key over all power is lost. Totally dead. Even clock is messed up. It will come back sometimes after about 30 seconds by itself, sometimes I wrigle cables around (yes, I'm a woman) and then all is fine. Other times it happens several times in a row. Sometimes it goes days without a problem at all. What could it be?
Thanks in advance,
Ryshtin

Sounds like you need to clean the terminals on the battery and/or need to replace the battery cables, check both ends of where the cables attatch to the battery clamps, if they look discolored, melted or corroded in any way , replace them.

You need a dealer, there is a real problem going on here, way over the head of any home do it yourselfer. The main reason is the special tools required to interface with the control modules that are throwing these codes

Fuel in engine base oil

I'm not much on diesels, but for gas engines the most common source is a leaking injector or fuel pressure regulator.

My 04' Chevy 5500 truck with 6.6 ltr. duramax lost power twice while climbing the highway in the Yukon territory. Pulled off the side of the road at idle, throttle would not take engine past 2000

Did the check engine light come on ?
Could have been a restriction in the fuel line or a problem with the throttle position sensor among other things.

Need to know firing sequence of glow plugs on a 2006 chevy 2500 hd duramax diesel engine

I am told the glow plugs heat up in "firing" order, also the Duramax uses a intake air heater to warm the air on cold starts.

I think your truck has a hydrostatic break system and it is driven off of the power steering pump. Check the fluid first in the power steering.

Sounds like the PRNDL switch on the side of the transmission. Be sure and clear the code before trying to start after replacing it.

I lost the light in the 2003 Duramax a few week ago.I just found a blown fuse under the hood in that big fuse panel by the driver side. It was the 15 amp mini fuse on the upper left hand corner. There was a white arrow pointing to it. Evidently someone has had the problem before. I bet that's my culprit
