42-45 low side and 200 high side would be nice but the heat being like it is look far 250 to275 and that is pushing it...if the low side service port is like 2 feet away from high side(whitch i think it is on this year) your low side could reach about 52 ,so this wold be normal

How to replace evaporator core & dryer in 96 ford explorer

great question
so the real questions are.
how can I breach the system at home DIY ,right?
is that it?
how can i do that and not get humid air in to the loop.

why not read the FSM on this topic, H3LL any car 1996
in chapter HVAC
read it , then ask questions, on the 100 steps.

simple answer, you cant unless you have HVAC tools.
or google it.

1: capture old Freon (tm)
2: replace parts.
3: pump it down with the vacuum pump.
4: charge it with freon by weight not volume.
5: pray.

that is a macro list.
varies depending on failure or state of system. before take down.

98 explorer air conditioning compressor only engages for a few seconds, what do I check first

It sound like it has a low charge but if you know that it is fully charged you may have a bad low pressure switch . Also make sure that the condensor fan is working properly and the system is not building to much pressure.

I have a 1996 ford f150 XL.. I am having a/c issues. I just replaced the drier, orifice tube, flushed the system, put new oil in, and r134a. The clutch will not engage, i have power at low and high...

I assume that you have not been able to properly charge this A/C? If not, use a cotter pin to short the terminals on the low pressure switch. Charge it to the proper pressures. Remove the cotter pin and reconnect the low pressure switch.

The clutch on the a/c compressor is shot. I was going to replace the compressor. Do I need to also change the accumulator/receiver dryer, and or the condenser too? It is a 1996 Ford Explorer, Eddy...

You need to change the dryer and orfice tube. You should also flush the evaporator, lines and condenser with an approved ac flush. Add the proper amount of refrigerant oil to the system and pull a vacuum and charge it.

96 SportTrac, started fine drove it and when I stepped on the brake the battery light came on and the truck died, tried starting the explorer it will try to turn over but will not start any ideas

Sounds like the immediate problem is getting the battery up to full charge and/or having it's condition checked, it may need to be replaced. It may be worn out and unable to hold a charge. Then a check of the charging system to verify the alternator is charging the battery. If the charging system isn't working properly it will just drain the battery again. Also take a look at the belt turning the alternator and connections. Ans as always use proper safety precautions when working with the battery. Do you know how old the battery is?

Air conditioning 1996 Ford Explorer

You were not clear, but I assume the compressor runs OK. If not, troubleshoot the electrical to the compressor. Did you replace the orifice tube while it was discharged for service? If not, then check the pressures. If low side pressure is high the tube might be plugged, especially if you truly had a bad compressor. In a properly working system the line should be cold on the evaporator side of the orifice tube when properly charged. If compressor runs, system properly charged and that line is warm then suspect a plugged tube.

1996 Explorer 4wd sport - oil pressure

I would use 10W-30W, but that should not make the oil pressure read low, have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical test guage, if it tests within normal range then start by replacing the oil pressure sending unit.
