The exhaust means nothing at this point.

The crankshaft sprocket notch should be STRAIGHT DOWN while both camshaft sprocket notches should both be STRAIGHT UP, and aligned with the marks on the backing plate behind the sprockets.

The spark plugs are in, right? Without spark plugs, you'll have no compression at all.

...and the head bolts were torqued correctly, in the correct sequence, and to the correct torque?

SOURCE: timing gear mark 94 dodge shadow

Look at this and see if this is how you did it. If that's not your engine you can enter your info to see it.

I need to find the timing (TDC) marks for my 95 isuzu rodeo. I had to replace the front main seal gasket. I had to pull the harmonic balancer to get to the seal. I put everything back together & now...

There is no way that could happen unless you did not put the woodruff key back into the crankshaft recess and put crank pulley on random!!!

I have a 3.2lt dohc V6 holden redoe i finished rebuilding the head after i blew a head gasket. i think there is a problem with the timing but i have followed the haynes repair manual which told me that...

it sounds like the timing belt may have moved of the crank shaft timing gear one or two teeth ,this can happen when working with the belt tensioner you should reset all the timing marks and make sure nothing moves when the belt is retensioned

Timing belt replacement on a 1999 isuzu rodeo 2.2

When you replaced the cylinder head, it would have been absolutely critical that the camshaft was already in the right position before you bolted it down. You cannot just bolt the head on and then turn things to line up the cam timing marks or you will bend valves while doing so. If this is what happened, the engine will not start and the head will have to come back off so that you can replace the bent valves.

Want to change my timing belt on a 3.2 rodeo 1998 24v engine

The marks should be in the shape of "arrows" or indented "lines" located on the pulleys and the face of the head gasket. There are alike marks on the crankshaft pulley and the face of the engine block also. Make sure your #1 cylinder is at "Top Dead Center" before you line up the pulleys on the cylinder head and install the belt.
