Question about 2003 Pontiac Grand Am

My car turned itself off while driving, now it just turns over

My car turned itself off while I was driving down the road, steering and all locked up. I managed to pull over and turn key off. When I tried to restart it there was no power. Couple hours later I have power but it just turns over and won't start. What could it be?

My 1998 Subaru Forester steering wheel locked while I was driving and the brakes went out also.

I agree with the other Expert, but the steering wheel lockup is puzzling. Do you mean it did not turn or was hard to turn?

Now if the steering wheel locked in its Parked position, then the Ignition switch had to allow it. It would be consistent with losing the electric feed to the motor and things the other Expert said. Your Ignition switch may have turned itself off. Sometimes too much weight on a keychain is enough.

If the car will start, it may be okay. But the inside of your Ignition may be coming apart or your Keychip is cutting out. You might want to change Ignition switches.

Power steering locked up one day going down road, car died, and every since u can turn it over but it wont crank?? help!!!!

Remove the power steering belt from the power steering pump. Try to restart. Sounds like the power steering pump froze up. If the belt drives more than the power steering pump (like the alternator), you will have drained the battery and the engine will not start. replace pump, charge battery, replace belt....hopefully drive. Good luck.

1997 buick lesabre steering locks up & can't turn left & whining

very possible that the pump has failed (seized ) internally so get it checked out at an accredited power steering specialist shop
if it does not produce pressure then the steering will lock or be extremely heavy to turn

Steering Wheel is jammed and ignition will not turn

Have you parked with the wheels at full lock or against the kerb ?, if so then get someone to gently turn the key while you violently rock the steering from side to side.

If it does not come loose it is a strip down job

Even if it does I would be very wary of driving the car in case the locking pin drops back into the hole and you go off the road

Steering veers to the left?

Drive slowly down the middle of a straight road, let the steering wheel go and apply the brakes. If the car wants to turn by itself check your ball joints and shocks. If the car remains straight you may have an irregular wearing tire which causes it wonder at higher speeds.
I hope this helps

Engine shuts off going down the road

We had a similar problem and it was the connector that connects the ignition module (bottom of coil packs to the wiring harness. The technician spread the socket connectors and it solved the issue.
