Question about BMW 3 Series

1 Answer

Bmw 3 series 320d At 2000 revs car will not accelerate, misfires

When the engine hits 2k revs, the car judders and will struggle to accelerate, but once past 2.5k revs it is fine again. It feels like a blockage somehow.. Dealer says it needs decoking but other mechanics say this is rubbish, have done 82k miles.Could it be an air leak, or even just fuel filter?? Help!!

Hi , this type of engine has been known to require decoking as the valve ports fill with carbon then restrict the air flow and causes the engine to struggle to rev above 2000 rpm, regards mark

320D E46 BMW 2000 engine won't start. Batery indicator is OK, central lock is working.

If your battery is good and all of your other electrical systems work fine then chances are it is your starter that is bad. However if the engine turns over but just won't start then you most likely have an electrical problem such as a bad ignition switch or ECM. I hope this helps you out.

I have a 2001 (Y) BMW 318ise e46. when i start the car i have less than 1000rpm, and when setting off it judders and bucks with very little power. When in 3rd gear it seems to be ok but it wont go above...

The engine is misfiring, probably needs a good tune up or a large vacume leak. Scan the engine for codes since the engine light is on and it will tell you the problems.

MY 2000 BMW 318I SE IS NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY WHEN STARTING FROM COLD I PUT MY FOOT DOWN BUT THE CAR JUST JUDDERS ALONG IF I STOP AND REV THE ENGINE PAST 5000 IT THEN SEEMS OK AFTER ALSO THE EMISSION...

There isn't a car out there that likes to be put in drive as soon as it is started. Mine especialy. I give it at least 30 seconds to warm while I am adjusting evrything and away I go. Runs like a champ. Let it warm up for a couple of minutes from a cold start.

Hi , I wouldnt say that this is a common problem but it is known by bmw , it may be worth booking your car into a bmw agent to get it checked, there may be a charge to check this but you may be able to get this part replaced as a goodwill gesture rather than pay for it yourself , regards mark
