Question about 2001 Saturn L-Series
The car will rev to 4000rpm or higher then BAM it slams into 2nd gear. Shut off the engine for a few seconds and everything is fine. Did you get yours fixed? I was told it could be the computer and it would cost $980 to replace. I did not do that yet
I doubt seriously that the computer is the problem. It's most likely going into a "safe" mode because of another problem. Re-starting the car re-sets the computer. Most likely something simple like a bad shift solenoid, trans heat sensor (if equipped with one), low fluid level, plugged pick up screen. A decent tranny shop should be able to diagnose the problem in a couple minutes.
