If you have access to a service manual, adjust your shifter lock out. It stops you from putting the car in gear without your foot on the brake. If it's out of adjustment you won't be able to get it into some gears. Try the library for service manuals.

It has to be shift lock solenoid (actuator). When this solenoid goes out it makes it so you can't put the vehicle into gear. Replace this and your vehicle will go back to normal. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for using FixYa!

How do i repair the rear brakes on my 2002 saturn Lseries

Dear Pll,
If you have to ask, you should not try to do it!
Your life and that of other road users depend on it!
I found that many new cars make it very difficult to work on the brakes!
That is for a good reason!
It is to keep amateurs out of them!
I know that the so called experts ripp uss off!
I hate that, but I suggest you look for a retired mechanic, someone like myself who is battling financially and have the expertise to help ypou by howing how to do it under his supervision.

When I try to shift from park to drive it gets tight at reverse as if doesn't want go but once out of reverse it shift normally until shifting back to park when I have to go threw reverse then it tightens...

Is it only when you go from park to reverse? Or is it just as bad going from neutral to reverse? I've noticed on mine that it's often tight if I park on even a slight slope. If it only happens when going from park to reverse, try this. Hold your foot on the brake, and put the car in drive. Keeping constant pressure on the brake, go back to park, then back into drive. Did you feel the stiffness when you had your foot on the brake?

2002 saturn vue, manual shifting problems

You have a slave cylinder for this trans. Pump the clutch pedal 25 times with the engine OFF. Then start it and try shifting it into each gear while parked. If this make it work your slave cylinder needs to be replaced

Hello! Is there a way to adjust the rear drum brakes after the shoes are replaced on a 2000 Saturn LS1?

Simply drive in reverse to about 5 mph and mash on the brake pedal to stop. You only have to do this once and the brakes will automatically adjust themselves (assuming everything was reconnected properly).

I hope this helps.
