Engine light on , stays in low gear, no fuses blown. When I pull out the relays to the TCM and then put them back in the check engine light goes out and the car will start shifting again. So is TCM box bad or does it need updated?
You need to have the vehicle properly diagnosed
to find a problem
No one can guess from a web site to answer the
unknown
You best have the key off when your doing all that
parts swapping or you will have issues
Don't know the systems & how they function,
leave the hood closed, what your doing was okey
in the 1950' & 60's,no more

Check the input shaft and output shaft speed sensors on the transmission. One is likely bad.

Take the vehicle to any auto parts store that offers to read the fault codes with a scanner for free and find out what that code is. If it shows Upstream or Downstream O2 sensor replace the O2 Sensor. There is a catch, dodge had an issue in the 2000 - 2004. The ECM will show a fault code that indicates the Catalytic converter is faulty. This is actually a faulty Downstream O2 Sensor. If you get a Catalytic converter fault code replace the O2 sensor first if you still have the problem then replace the converter.

sond like you have a short all your doing is breaking the curcit and puttin it back in i would say without the key on so there fore itdont recive power all the time confussing the computer to fix it could be as easy as changing the relay if that dont fix it check for short in fuse panel but i think you have a weak or bad relay most liklyif you test your old it will probl show its good because when you test it you test to c if it makes a connection and not if it breaks connection and if it dont break connection then its shorting out and keeping constant power on it full time and when you pull it out and put it back in your reseting it and becoming the switch that the relay is suppose to be

The only reasonable part is the labor charge. I couldn't second-guess the shop's recommendation, maybe both parts are needed, but you could have them replace the shift solenoid, and try driving it for awhile, see what happens. Then if you need the TCM, try a used one from a salvager for less than half the cost of new. That is something you could install yourself.
Whatever you decide, good luck.

I can't remember what a PO605 code is off-hand, but I do know that it is a PCM code, and not a BCM code. There are 2 different computers.
