1975 dodge sportsman rv ignition tumbler removal and replacement

To replace the ignition tumbler in a 1975 Dodge Sportsman RV, you will need to follow these steps:
  1. Remove the steering column cover: Start by removing the screws or bolts that hold the steering column cover in place. Once the cover is removed, you should be able to access the ignition switch and tumbler.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connections: There should be two electrical connections that attach to the ignition switch. Disconnect these before attempting to remove the tumbler.
  3. Remove the retaining screw: Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screw that holds the tumbler in place.
  4. Remove the tumbler: After removing the screw, the tumbler should slide out of the ignition switch.
  5. Install the new tumbler: Insert the new tumbler into the ignition switch, making sure it is securely in place.
  6. Reinstall the retaining screw: Use the screwdriver to reinstall the retaining screw.
  7. Reconnect the electrical connections: Reconnect the two electrical connections that you disconnected in step 2.
  8. Replace the steering column cover: Once everything is back in place, replace the steering column cover and secure it with the screws or bolts.
  9. Test the new tumbler: Finally, test the new tumbler to make sure it is working properly and that the RV starts and runs smoothly.

Ignition tumbler removals

that is a hard one.
on most ignition switch assy, there are pins, that must be drifted out.
why are you asking this,.?
take the assembly to any lock smith, and ask him to do it.
he has very special tools to do that.
last one I did, it cost more in labor to do that ,than a new assy.
assy is tech jargon for Assembly.

I have a jeep grand Cherokee Laredo and the key won't turn in the ignition I have jiggled the key while pushing on the brake and jiggling the steering wheel What is wrong and how much will it cost to fix

The ignition tumbler has worn out.You probably need a new ignition tumbler and key. I replaced one myself recently. Should run 20 something dollars at any Auto parts. Make sure you read the installation instructions. shouldn't take long. Be patient and you can do it yourself...

Ignition switch diagram

IF you have a locksmith take it out it is possible that he may be able to repair the pins in the tumbler but I think the cost would be more than getting a new tumbler. If you use a locksmith then he can set the new tumbler pins so that you can use the old key and that will save you carrying extra keys unnecessarily.

99 Mitsubishi mirage, the wife lost second key, can i still replace ignition tumbler

If you replace the ignition switch tumbler then you also will have to get a new key and that will cost you 2 keys and reprogramming. Cheaper just to get 1 new key and program it from yours or the car.

I have 2001 dodge intrepid and i made copy of original key and it worked fine.....NOW NONE OF THE KEYS WILL WORK??? the tow driver thinks i may need a new tumbler??

This all depends on if the key has a chip in it and if they can get it to turn in order to release the lock pin that holds cylinder in place.
this may run about $200.00

Key will not turn

If your key will not turn at all there is a good chance that your ignition tumbler has gone bad. The tumbler is the part that your key actually goes into. The tumbler is fairly easy to remove, and the new tumbler will actually come with step by step instructions. A new lock tumbler will normally cost no more then $30. If that does not work the only other option is the ignition switch itself and those are more expensive costing on average around $150 or more. I hope this helps you out, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

My son lost his key to his geo tracker... what does he do now?

if you can remove the tumbler from a door and take it in to a locksmith they can take it apart and make a new key for the vehicle. it costs around $40 this way. sometimes you can go to the dealer with the vin # and buy one as well. the tumbler does not have to come from a door these are usually the easiest to remove but whatever lock you can get out they can make a key from
