If it is slipping and the fluid is not low then the direct clutch has failed or the system has low hydraulic pressure and you will need to have the transmission overhauled.

My 2000 dodge ram feels like it is slipping because when i first put it in gear is does not engage right away if i wait a moment and try it again it shifts in gear and drives fine until i turn truck off...

first is it a stick shift or and auto box.. stick shift will be the clutch. or a part of it best to change the lot in this case clutch and other components in there. you can get a clutch kit with all parts you need. auto it could be the speed sensor or the servo or selector in the auto box. can also be faulty oil in the auto box. or even just to low. you would need to check this.

When running cold, there is some rev slip when changing up from 3rd to 4th gear

you need to change the oil in the auto box. if this dont help then the servo in the auto box is sticking.

E53 X5 will not go in gear

failed electronic stability control module.sits behind your gear stick.take it to a dealer to check the codes they can check that part first. as two other things can go wrong in your gear box .but the codes will check that.

Automatic gear fault

slipping is clutch ?? why would it be electronics. un less its an auto box. if it auto box can be a lot of things. most common is the breathe hose blocked up. if it runs fine until it gets hot then it can be this. if it is like it all the time it can be the speed sensor not reading the rev speed to change gear. if it is doing it slowly taking time to change gears its is not reading the engine speed or the abs speed sensor you would no if it was this as you would have a jumping speedo speed. to get the best solution you need to have the engine and auto box read.
