Question about 2004 GMC Sierra Denali

1 Answer

05 Denali no marker lights on trailer

Turn signals and brakes work fine, but no marker lights at all.
Checked at the plug with tester and no power. Looks like all 4 fuses for trailer are good. Not sure where else to check.

2003 Chevy HD trailer wiring problem

I have the exact same issue. I have also tested my trailer on other vehicles and it works fine. I even purchased a light up tester and found the problem at the harness. It seems like a bad ground to me but I can't seem to find one.

The trailer lights have a common brake/turn wire while the truck has seperate turn and brake lights. I think the problem lies with the device that marries the two for the trailer wiring but I don't know where to find it?

Pass. side trailer turn and brake lights out 1999 ford explorer

if your vehicle lights are working all the fuses will be good. follow the cable from the towing socket on your vehicle , it will most likely go behind one of the rear lights to connect into your cars system,
check your tester where the cables join and you should find the problem. hope this helps.

You can purcahse a tester which will connect into the F-150's wiring harnes. If the led lights up, the problem is witht he trailer's wiring harness. this tester will indicate the proper operation of the brake light and turn signals.

Trailer wiring

First check and make sure that the marker lights are working on your pickup. If not, check the fuse. If they are, you will need to make sure the there is power going in to your trailer plug form the brown wire. Then check and make sure you have power through the trailer wire. All of this can be done using a electrical tester you can get from the dollar store.

If your signals & brakes are on 2 different circuits, ( for example a red lens for stop & an Amber for turn.) then you'll need to buy a converter that goes between vehicle & trailer. They're not too expensive at any trailer or RV place. I think some of the autoparts stores stock them now too.
