When replacing crank angle sensor do I need to replce harmonic balancer too I was told if I dont then crank sensor wont last long ?? Is this true ?? Its a 1996 vr commodore

You don't have to replace it with a new one but you do need to place your old one back on, as it needs to be removed to replace your crank angle sensor.

well i dont know what year is but the crank position sensor is locate it behind crank pulley in order to have acces to the sensor you ne to remove the pulley first. Note when the crank sensor is bad there should be no fire at your sparks. before keep spending more money dont know if you checked for gas coming to the engine.

Replaced crank shaft position sensor from autozone. erased all codes. still showing code p1345. ive been told to use acdelco. am i doing something wrong?

Code p1345 is the crankshaft variation learn. You need to get the crankshaft variation learn done for the code to clear. You will need a scan tool. This should take care of the check engine light.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I was just told I need crank and cam sensor ,throttle and fuel injector service to the amount of 702.00 help from my jeep dealer after my check engine light came on. ouch, any suggestions?

Hello there, Sounds a bit pricey to me. As far as the fuel injection and throttle body services these are done for maintenance reasons, I am sure it is something you can do when it fits your budget.

Now as far as the cam and crank sensor if there is a problem with one of these sensors you will have a drivablity problem such as hard starting and a lot of times shutting down after the car warms up.

If your not experiencing any driveability problems with your vehicle I would suggest having the computer resset and see if your light comes back on or if they were false codes.

Good luck and I hope this helps you, Allen

Do I need to replace the crank positioning sensor?

the sensor is not to hard to change takes an experienced mechanic a little less tan an hour if it does not brake. it really doesn't hurt your car to run with a faulty sensor but if the sensor competly craps out your car probably won't start i would get it repaired if i were you so your not stranded some where.

Can a cam sensor cause a hard start

Yes, cam sensor can cause a hard starting condition, but not that common on a 2000 maxima. I haven't replaced single one on a 2000 Max and I have one also (maxima that is) . Never had any problem with cam or crank sensors. I think that your problem is somewhere else, like IAC valve circuit. Just a tip. Its kinda hard to diagnose something over the computer, without Consult2 (Nissan scanner) beeing hooked up to the car and seeing what the car is doing while cranking for my self.
