Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck 2WD

Trying to replace the tail lamps on a 2001 Dodge Ram Van 1500 (third tail lamp that is above the back doors). Unscrewed the 2 screws & the plastic housing has the 2 bulbs that I need to replace, but don't want to breack the housing. Need to know how to get bulbs out.

Have you checked under your headliner inside the cab? Most of the wiring for the 3rd brakelight is ran under the headliner. There should be a connection you can disconnect and remove the light to replace the bulbs.

I am trying to replace aleft rear turn signal bulb on a 2005 lacrosse. I removed two wing nuts but cannot remove assmbly. Is there another wing nut holding it in. I cannot find it?

The tale lights are not working. Need to find the fuse diagram...where can i find one


Your tail lamps are powered by fuse "F" (20 Amp) in the underhood Power Distribution Center. The same fuse runs your front "Park" lamps.

There are for Philip screws holding your tail light cover onto your dodge. Step 1: Just remove those screws and pull the cover off. Step 2: Remove the light bracket out of the cover and replace with a 1057 bulb.

How do you replace brake light


  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Lower the tailgate.
  3. Remove the two screws that secure the tail lamp unit to the cargo box.
  4. Remove the tail lamp unit from the cargo box.
  5. Disconnect the body wire harness connector from the lamp back plate connector.
To install:
  1. Connect the body wire harness connector to the lamp back plate connector.
  2. Position the tail lamp unit into the cargo box.
  3. Install the two screws that secure the tail lamp unit to the cargo box.
  4. Raise the tailgate.
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

open the tailgate and there are 2 screws that hold the whole assembly in...remove the assembly and they are accessed from the back

there should be a fuse for the tail lights under the dash in the fuse panel....my interior lights went out here while back, and i had no brake lights.....fuse in fuse panel under dash.....

Hi, I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 P/U in which my left rear blinker light has gone out. I bought it used. Does the cover come off or do I have to access it from the tailgate side?


you have to let the tailgate down and take the screws out of the lense assembly then the bulb will twist out of the back of the tail lamp assembly

If the fuse was melted, I doubt that all 4 bulbs went bad at once. It sounds like you have a short circuit there. The power goes from the fuse, up to the head lamp switch and then to the 4 lamps. Check to see if the headlamp switch is working properly.
