Question about 1999 Volkswagen Jetta

Pulled fuse causes car not to start, even after replacement!

Hi, my name is Nina. I have a 1999 VW NewJetta GL 2.0L 5-Speed. My brake lights went out, so my husband started pulling fuses, because he did not have a good fuse map. He eventually pulled a fuse and the car went off (he had it on so that radio was playing, the car wasn't running). He put the fuse back in, and now the car won't start at all!! What is the problem? How do we fix this? If we can totally avoid going to a shop, that would be best, as we do not have the money for such shop work! Please help me! I have 2 kids and my husband and I both work full-time, and now we're only down to one POS GMC pick-up truck that can't hold all 4 of us! We need to get my car running, and for as cheap as possible :) All help that you can offer me, will be the best!

Thank you!

Try this.Take off the negative battery connection. Wait at least five minutes. Make sure all the fuse have been placed back. Put the battery cable back then start again. What this does is reset the computer. If this don't work it may have been damaged. Here is a list of things the can damage a computer.
1 when boosting, always start the other car first before hooking up the cable, never hook up the cable then start. 2 Never disconnect power to computer whle the cars is on, or running. such as pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery while the car is on or running. 3 never use test light to troubleshoot the electrical system, always use a Digital multimeter. Never jump anything unless you are sure what you are jumping. Never apply 12 volts to any wiring unless you really know what you doing. 4 Always replace a bad battery. When battery goes bad, the low voltage in that battery can damage the computer, by making the alternator run harder, if the rectifier in the alternator shorts or leak, it will introduce ac current to the computer, which will damage it.

Battery light still on after changing alternater and battery

The battery light goes 2 ways, one is showing the battery taking a charge because the battery was drained, and 2, the battery is not taking a charge and will be dead in 20 mins. I should say the charge light. So, now that you have replaced the battery and the alternator, I would assume there is something else wrong. Your battery might be charging up. Your new battery might be dead.
Check out all the fuses, you will probably find one blown that has nothing to do with it but it causes the light to come on. I went nuts once(?) when my brake light on the dash came on, I had brakes, but couldn't find anything wrong, I checked everything, went as far as making an app with a mechanic to check out my brakes, on my way to the shop, a guy pulls up along side of me and says my brake lights are out. Duh, popped in the fuse and went back home. So, check it out. Hope this helps.

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

2000 VW Jetta E-Brake Light indicator beeps when brake is off

I fixed mine!! First check your ebrake switch by starting your vw and putting the ebrake on. If your daytime running lights stay on when the ebrake is engaged, its NOT the switch. Stay with me here. Turn vw off and pull fuse number 5. Mine was blown, but the legend only shows a pic of a book with an exclamation point. Meaning the book will tell you what it is, BUT IT DOESN'T . I replaced the 7.5 amp fuse and voila, victory. If it is not number 5, pull every fuse one at a time and inspect them closely. Do not assume, check each one. That is how I found mine after I bought and replaced the $10 switch. Running lights stay on because the switch is not being acknowledged, not because it is bad. I searched every forum I could find on this and there were no answers to this problem anywhere. So I am posting so there is an answer out there. What put me on the right track was the running lights staying on when the ebrake was engaged after I put in the new switch.

Vw golf est dashboard coil or spring shaped

thats the heater coil symbol for the diesel engines.
does it stay solid at beginning as normal?
if the car drives normal, then maybe its just a loose connection/wire somewhere

1999 F150 WIndshield wipers, dome light and side window controls not working

i just had the same problem with my f 150 ( 1999), my wipers, washer fluid pump, dome light, door chime stopped, I went thur the manuals, Checked appropated fuses, even changed wiper motor, (nothing worked) out of much internet checking, talking to mechanics, I got frustrated, I started pulling all the fuses under the dash,, I pulled # 15 ,a 5 amp fuse, which has nothing to do with the wipers eletronics, it was a good fuse, when i put it back in, everything came back and working fine. nearest i can figure it was either loose or a dirty contact.

#15 fuse (5 amps) on my box is for : stop lamp switch,( speed control, brake shift interlock,ABS, pcm module inputs.gem module,RABS test connector)
this was just blind luck, maybe it will help you.
