Well driving it with the current issues, your pretty much going
to be rebuilding that unit again

It slips, flairs & has already started to burn the clutches

That could have been prevented IF you stopped using it the
first you noticed something & took it back

Has to come out & be gone thru again
Wasn't built correctly or they never worked on
the electronic area or maybe don't know how to

Are you sure the TV ( trans shift cable at the throttle valve) cable is correctly adjusted?? Without line pressure readings, I can only guess that the D3/Part throttle check ball is missing, if it is a trans problem
If the TV is correct, I am assuming that the TV cable is pulled tight at WOT.
Did you check the throttle (ACCEL) cable to be sure that the carb goes wide open when your accel pedal is on the floor?? This must be done with someone in the car and a second person looking at the carb. Without doing this, you do not know if you have WOT. Without WOT, the trans will not de-tent and shift down.

Well, first do the service. Pull the pan down and look for metal shavings. If there is metal shavings your in for a transmission. If not, you may have a problem with one of the transmissions shift solenoids located near the valve body.
P.S. The Duramax has the Allison 1000 transmission not the dodge cummins and they are one of the best trannys on the market.

SOURCE: 2002 Ford Explorer 5R55W transmission had

Band adjustment is very sensitive on these units, I set both adjustments at one turn. This is a 4 speed trans that has been converted to a 5 speed by turning on the od unit ( 1-2 shift ) in first gear.the 2-3 shift is busy because the od band is coming off causing the od unit to transfer back to 1:1 and the intermediate band is coming on . I have found that if the overdrive band is to loose it will release to fast causing a flare on the 2-3 shift bot not really affecting the 4-5 (overdrive) shift. So break both band adjustments loose and tighten the adjustment screw down and back off 1 turn the tighten jam nuts. Also the fluid level should be checked with the transmission warm ( 100 f , not hot, not cold) and the fluid should stream out of the check tube. Transgo makes a really nice vb kit that i use that will help these symptoms.

Ford Explorer 1998 rebuilt transmission

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Did you flush the grit out of the transmission cooler and the lines to it? If not you may have ruined a new transmission.

VIBRATION IN F250 AT 1500 RPM WITH NO DRIVE SHAFT IN

Your flexplate and/or torque convertor are out of balance.
If recently replaced it should be a warranty issue.
By your testing you have determined it's transmission related.
I have seen new/rebuilt torque convertors be balanced incorrectly.

My 2002 ford explorer will roll backwards after stopping at a light. The engine revs then it finally takes off what could this be?

The transmission is losing system pressure at the stop sign. Not considered normal, but common. I had a 1991 Ranger that did that whenever temps got below 32 degrees F- until I rebuilt the transmission. In mine it was an internal seal ring on the front pump support made of teflon that was distorted and it was replaced by a steel ring.

Some things that might mitigate the issue for now is to replace filter, refill adding some seal conditioner product as well. Keep it at the upper of two hash marks for a full level. And on hills, drive with two feet holding the engine RPM at about 900- 1000 while waiting. Not a good solution, but it does work short of overhaul.

When i put my 95 explorer in reverse it makes a grinding noise in transfer case and wont move all other gears fine

automatic or manual transmission? if manual then the first gear fork is bent if automatic then there is trouble in the valve body which means that you have to have the transmission rebuilt

Trouble in shifting

I am having trouble understanding what you are saying but it sounds like you are saying the transmission shift points are too high. (Holds the gears too long, RPM's too high before it shifts) RIght? Check to see if you have vacuum to the modulator at Idle. If yes replace the modualtor.

1994 ford explorer eddie

the transmission is loseing internal fluid pressure, its time for a rebuilt transmission. The A4ld that your explorer has is prone to trouble in this area. A good rebuilt transmission may cost at least $1700 dollars.

1994 ford explorer

The first thing you need to fix is the fact that it will not go into park. I think the shift lever is maladjusted. There should be a way to adjust it near the transmission. Get this dealt with because I am thinking it could be a simple problem. If after you get it adjusted, it still does not immediately kick in to drive, then I think you have a serious tranny problem. You did not say how many miles were on the car, but if it has high miles (more than 100,000) and it has not ever been rebuilt, then it will probably need to be. The trannys in these Explorers were notoriously bad.
