Question about Subaru Impreza

Smells like dirty feet when AC is on. Doesn't stink when just the vent/fan is running? Heard that vent or AC drain may be clogged or full of debris. Where are these drain(s)?

Most likely has mildew on the evap core. You may be able to get a kit at a parts store to deodorize this. It will have instructions on how to use it on the can.

Where is the cabin air filter location on a 1994 mercury capri

1994 Mercury Capri ac does not have a cabin air filter. Weak air flow and bad smell could be debris in the fresh air/ac inputs. Check under the hood for debris where the air enters, the area under the wiper, and behind the vents inside, they get clogged if you park under a shedding tree...Chris

Smoke smells when ac on nissan sentra

The speed control of your fan has resisters that are in the venting system to blow air on them to keep them cool. If they overheat and or burn you will lose your low and medium speeds of the fan. If you run the fan at full see if the smell goes away. Your engine could be burning oil on the outside of the engine block, make sure that the weatherstrip where your hood meets the fresh air intake grill is sealing tight.

The condenced water fills inside the right side of the car both front and rear.

Your year and model Jeep had a problem where the condensate drain would clog up with trash and small debris which came in through the outside vent. If you clear the drain of the clog, water will run out of the evaporator case and as long as it doesn't clog up, your problem will not reappear. Make sure you remove the carpet and dry everything out otherwise mildew will set in and the odor is lovely, especially in the morning after the car has been sitting over night. There is a product called "ODOR BAN" which you can spray on everything when you are done, including the intake for the evaporator, while the fan is running. The stink will disappear. You can use a coat hangar to clear the drain. It is a rubber tube which projects out of the fire wall just near the tunnel. Make sure the end you use is not sharp. Bend it into a "Very small hook and be carefull .
Good luck.

When air conditioner is turned on, a smell similar to old dirty socks appears. I'm worried about possible mold, as I di not want my young children inhaling anything harmful. Thank you!

the evaporatror coes housing is full of vegetation debries which ROTS & SMELLS BAD
You can add a pint of peroxide through the vents outside of the windshield and flush with water in fifteen minutes. Then add a few ounces of Lysol into the vents to create a fresh smell afterwards

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 coolant vapor coming through the vents

Most likely you have a leaking heater core, or a leak at the hose connection at the heater core. Proliance brand cores run 45-50.00 and the part number is 398313. If you fan only runs on high, the motor resister is probably defective. They cost around 45.00 and the AC Delco part number is C1112. When you are doing your repairs you will probably want to replace the cabin air filter also. The ac delco part number is ACA1166C. These numbers are assuming you have the 318 engine. A good ammonia based window cleaner should do the trick for removing the antifreeze film on the glass. If not, try vinegar- stinks though. Hope this helps. Marvin.

Every time I turn on my air conditioning a powerful stink is emitted from the vents. It's really bad now - it used to be just the first couple minutes, and now it's for a solid 10 minutes every time. It...

Get the cores cleaned and be sure that the drain is clear and flowing.

One thing to do is turn off AC and still blow air through it, on high, for 2 or 3 minutes at shutdown. What you are trying to do is dry the evaporator of condensation. MUCH less smell on next power on of AC.

When I turn on the AC a moggy smell blows out of the vents. However, if I turn the AC off but leave the fan blowing air through the vents the smell go away a little. What could be causing this problem?...

mould in evaporator case?
some vehicles have a pollen filter(air conditioning air intake filter)not sure if your vehicle has but check if it has, may need replacing.
check plenum chamber(area under front windscreen)for leaves and debris.
then can try and spray mould killing pressure can(glen 20)air freshner in through intake air places under front windscreen with windows down air cond on full fan speed on fresh air while engine running or not depending on how long and how bad smell is.
may also pay to check for blocked air cond. drain tube, is it dripping water when running?
service centres or hire places have also got fragrance and mould killing machines you can use inside vehicle under similar conditions as above(ozoneator)

Water leak in 1995 Jeep Wrangler SE

There is a drain for the vent air box under the hood on the firewall. Open the hood and look on the left side of the engine for a rubber tube hanging vertically from the firewall. This tube gets filled with crud (leaves, dirt, etc) and plugs up keeping the water from draining until you turn a corner and it spills over into the cab... on your feet. Been there done that.

The drain has a **** in the bottom- pull it up, squeeze it at the end and use a screwdriver or similar to clean the end out.

Forget windshields, firewall sealants, and all the other remedies suggested all over the internet for water leaks until you look at this- it's the cause 99.9% of the time
