It happens to my 93 Integra but mostly when the car is sitting in the sun or when the weather is hot. What works sometimes, is to step on the gas pedal down to the floor and start the car at the same time. Other times, I wait a few minutes and then do the same thing.

The first thing i would check is the fuel pressure. the fuel pump may be running, but that doesn't mean that it is putting out the right amount of fuel

2004 gmc sonoma why does it take 2-3 times cranking before it starts and only does it sometimes?

install pressure gauge and watch when key is turned off to see if pressure drops to zero if so bad drain back valve in fuel pump replace it or deal with it or could be cheap aftermarket pump and has hard time building unnecessary pressure to open poppet valves between before fuel injectors

Have 1999 ford explorer V8, Starts 99 percent of the time ,but every so often it just won't. Crank and crank just nothing, won't even fire. Let it sit for ten minutes and wow starts right up. Any ideas?...

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out, you can be tested by placing a fuel pressure gauge on the the fuel rail, run the engine and fuel pressure should maintain around 60psi for approximately 60 seconds after being shut off.

I am getting very confused. On my 88 Bronco II i have replaced a number of things ie; computer, MAP sensor, both fuel pumps, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, all 6 injectors, cap , rotor, plugs ,...

does it sound like it cranks funny if so r u sure that it hasn't jumped time maybe not but if u have to spray starting fluid in it t get it to run then then either the injectors aren't opening (obviously ) lol

when u put the distributor in r u sure u have it in time and if u r sure u did then have u got someone to crank it while u turn the distributor a little from left to right and see if it will start

also check all ur grounds under the hood and make sure they r all intact especially the grounds going to the neg battery terminal

Put a crank sensor on it to fix. They get hot and stop working. Next time it stops pour or spray some water on it and try to start it. Old trick to solve problem

My 2000 GMC Jimmy cranks but wont start unless i try repeatedly or pour fuel into the intake , then it runs fine until i let it sit for hours and then the sameproblem occurs... any ideas info. or know how...

Hi, had same problem with my truck. you need to replace your fuel pump because it no longer holds the pressure in your fuel rail. If you cycle your ignition on and off multiple times(this will cycle the fuel pump relay) with out turning over the engine then start it normally, that is the problem.

Have to crank over for a long time to start, but when running it runs great

Check your fuel pressure regulator, sits on the fuel rail, could be leaking and so it takes time to built fuel pressure for it to start.

1992 cadillac deville ....parked it at night and in the morning battery was dead and car wouldnt start. Charged the battery and now it cranks but will not start. if you let it sit for a minute and then try...

does it have three second fuel pump run when you turn key to run position/ in between you should let i rest 5 or so seconds then try it again also some of these cadilacs have oil pressure sending unit wich takes the duty of keeping fuel pressure up is fuel pressure lowering as engine quits eg. rev up some in your few seconds of running while the engine is quit momentum keeps it turning for a short time see if you r pressure maintain thru the wind down

88 chevy truck 5.7 engine not firing

WHAT I WOULD DO IS TEST THE FUEL PRESSURE SOME TIMES THE PUMP WILL PUMP ENOUGH FUEL TO GET TO THE TBI BUT NOT ENOUGH TO FIRE THE TRUCK. IF FUEL PRESSURE IS GOOD REMOVE THE DISTBURTOR CAP AND INSPECT THE CAP AND ROTOR, CHECK FOR CORROTION N EITHER ONE SOME TIMES IS BUILDS UP AND STOPS THE SPARK. GIVE THAT A TRY GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS.
