I need some details on how to adjust the front right tire because it is wearing to quickly on the outside tread

Your tracking is out and needs to be set up using a laser rig

It is toeing in and that causes the scrubbing effect.

Unless you want to try numerous settings on the right hand side steering link arm and watch the tire wear away as you do so take it to a tire shop and they will track it up in about 20 minutes

Can you tell me what the Front suspension settings are ?


no vehicle make model. year supplied so the answer is generic but applies to most vehicles toe in is 1/8 -1/4 inch
caster 1 to 1 1/2 degrees and camber 1/2 2 degrees ( all measurements are positive
tire wear is the best guide to wrong alignment
wear on the inside or outside of the tire tread is alignment and toe -in
in the middle or on the outsides of the tread is pressure problems
wheel wobble at speeds ( 30mph up ) is castor adjustment, loose tie rod ends , ball joints and if the castor is approaching negative setting , will, not recenter the wheel after cornering
I suggest that you take the vehicle to an accredited suspension/ wheel alignment shop with experience on your make of vehicle and have it inspected
good shops will recommend that the rear is checked/ adjusted first as much front tire wear can be traced to the back being out

I replaced the tires on my 2003 mitsubishi eclipse 2 months ago & the front two have worn to the wires on both sides. a week ago there was still some tread on them. why could this be happening?


1. What brand and model of tire was fitted?

2. Please describe the wear pattern on the front tires in more detail. For example is the excessive tread wear.....
A. Right across the face of the tread on each tire or
B. On the outside edges of the tread on each tire or
C. on the inside edges of the tread on each tire or
D. on both sides of the tread but not on the center section of the tread on both tires.

B is normally caused by incorrect toe setting - toe in
C is also normally caused by incorrect toe setting - toe out
D is normally caused by tire pressure set way too low.

Faulty steering and suspension components can also cause abnormal tire wear for any component that affects the wheel alignment settings.

When roads have even a dusting of snow on them and i barely touch the brakes to slow and stop, the front ones instantly lock up and pull me to the right. I immediately take my foot off the brake when this...


There are a number of possibilities here. First thing to do is make sure the new rear brakes are properly adjusted. If they are too loose they will not engage when you push gently on the pedal and the front brakes will be doing all the work. This could easily cause you to slide. There is a self-adjusting mechanism in the rear but these can become inoperative over time. The brakes can be adjusted manually.
Second, how much tread is on the front tires? As tread wears down the tire becomes less able to handle snow. Does one tire have less tread than the other? Tires have a wear bar built into them so look at the tread and see if you can find a rubber bar that extends across the tread. The more visible it is the less likely there is enough tread to handle snow. It may still be legal to use the tire but save it for summer. If the wear bar is almost flush with the tread,run your hand across it, then that is most likely your problem. Compare the front tires to the back ones, use a coin to see the difference, stick it in the tread groove and note where the tread comes on the coin. The grooves in the tread move snow away and once they are full the tires rides up on the snow instead of staying on the road. If you are unsure stop at a tire shop and get them to help check it out ( 3/32 inches is the minimum I think).
If these are good then you could have a brake caliper starting to go bad. They will seize up and stop working. When that happens the brake pressure transfers to the wheel that works. This will make the car pull to the side that works. So if the back brakes are good and the tires and good enough I would look at replacing the LEFT brake caliper. That would be the one sticking.
If you are travelling on roads that produce a noticable lean inside your car this could also be at least part of the problem. The car would tend to slide with the lean but if the roads appear flat then it's not likely the problem. Roads are "crowned" to be about 2% off level to help water run off but as a rule this shouldn't be the problem.

I have a shaking in the front end.when i take of from a stop it pulls to the right when it shifts.also there is a thumping noise in the front end,it sounds like it is coming from near the tranny on the...


hello tld. There are a few things to check. First of all you could have a bad tire, broken tire belts for example. You could have a bad U joint causing the thumping and you could need a front end alighment resulting in the shaking. To check it out, get it up into a auto lift, a flash light and have a good look around. Also chech the tread on the tires. Uneven wear, wear all to the inside or the outside, all indicate that a front end alignment is needed. Joe

I love the car and it drives great, however, my front tires are wearing at an incredible rate. I just bought new tires because we thought the tires it came with were bad due to no tread left after a 2100...


u still need to take your car to a allighment, most likely your front tie rods were adjusted wrong and both front wheels go inside or they both go outside, and in that case it will never pull to neither side but it will eat your tires like crazy let the allighment test show u that they are off it original measurements, i will it will solve your problem

You need a front end alignment. That is what is meant by toed in....bad camber.

Tires wearing inside on 2008 Impala LT


this is a wheel camber (in and out tilt of wheel and tire) problem, u may have to have a Camber adjustment kit put in, most new cars have no adjustment provided for this. the bottom line here is you need to see a really good front end shop to get this taken care of, also the tires will continue to wear this way even if problem is corrected, so may want to replace them or rotate them.

REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
TOE-IN : 0±2 mm (0±0.08 in.)

The rear suspension upper arm mounting cam bolt should be turned an equal amount on both sides during adjustment. 2. Install the left and right springs which have the same identification color. 3. The cam bolt should be adjusted within a 90° range left and right from the center position.e55b100.gif TIRE WEAR 1. Measure the tread depth of the tires. Tread depth of tire [Limit] : 1.6 mm (0.06 in.) 2. If the remaining tread depth is less than the limit, replace the tire. note_icon.gif When the tread depth of the tire is reduced to 1.6 mm (0.06 in.) or less, the wear indicators will appear.

Your situation is not not abnormal. Since you can't rotate due to different sizes front & rear & they are high performance "Y" speed rated tires 30K is really pretty good
