I assume you are talking about the door card, or cardboard trim cover inside the door.
Step 1, remove all screws. There will be one screw holding down the handle trim plate. Pull back the handle and check carefully. If your car has manually operated windows, you have to remove the window winder handle. Push the card in around the handle trim to expose the handle stem. There is a clip that holds the handle in place which you have to "fish" out with a thinnish length of wire. Be careful, if this clip gets lost, which it easily does, it is difficult to replace. If your car has electric windows, the switch should come off with the card, no problem. There might also be one or two screws at the bottom of the door card holding down the corners.
Step 2, OK, screws all removed. Now, very carefully, insert a flat screwdriver, the bigger the better, in between the card and the the door. Carefully move the screwdriver in any direction until it jams up against the plastic clip that holds the card onto the door, and force the clip out. It is a good idea to place a wad of cloth between the screwdriver and the metal of the door to prevent damage to the paint. Once the clip pops, it becomes easier to pop the next one and then the next and so on. There should be at least eight or ten plastic clips that hold the card down, and if you can get them all out without breaking one, you are extremely lucky.
Step 3. Carefully (see how often I use this word) lift the card upward to unhook it from the top edge of the door. It might be necessary to unhook the door handle pull rods before removing the card. This is done by unhooking the plastic hooks that retain the rods. It's very easy to unhook, much more difficult to get back in place.
Have fun.

How to change headlight bulbs on 1997 Oldsmobile 88

All of the posted answers are incorrect, with the exception of kevinbkr, but he does not go into much detail. To change the bulbs you most remove the light cluster. First, as kevinbkr said, remove the top black plastic facia plate. There are 4 push pin expanding type fasteners holding it to the body. Grab the center push pin head with a pair of pliers and pull upwards. It will come out leaving the now 'deflated' pin fastener behind. Using a regular screwdriver, carefully pry the fastener upwards and remove. Once the facia plate is out, look at down at the back of the light cluster and you will see three bent metal clips that fit between the body panel and a plastic triangle shaped pin with a slot in it coming out of the back of the light cluster. These clips hold the light cluster in place and onto the body. Pry these upwards and they slide up and off. The top of the clip has a flat edge, so pry there. The two on the top are fairly easy. Like most everything else, the one at the bottom is harder but you can figure out how to get it. I used a long screwdriver from underneath and tapped upwards. Once the clips are off, the light cluster can be separated from the car by several inches as the wires to the bulbs will prevent complete removal. Notice that the light cluster has a prong that fits into a slot in the front on the side closest to the car centerline. Don't break this prong when removing, and when replacing make sure the male prong is inserted back into the female slot. Just be gentle when removing the cluster and you will see what I am talking about. The headlight bulbs are rotated 1/4 turn counter clockwise and removed. Mine were kind of stuck and I had to carefully pry a bit with a small screwdriver and wiggle the old bulb out. You'll get it. The first side took me 10 minutes, and the other side 5 minutes. A pair of pliers and a couple of regular screwdrivers for prying the clips out are the only tools needed. Really easy after you've done it once.

I want to replace the parking brake shoes on my 2004 ford explorer plus install new springs etc. do I need to take the hub holding the wheel lugs off to do this?

Yes, that is the easy part, but what is done next? It has been my experience that it is a real bear to put the new shoes on. You will need two people unless you have e hands. Mount both shoes with the pin and clip. If the front pin needs to be threaded thru the hole, feed some wire thru the hole and wrap it over the tip of the pin, then pull it thru the hole. Once the clips are back in place, put on the top spring using needle nose pliers and a lot of muscle. Put the adjusting screw in (fully turned in), then the bottom spring. Put the rotor on and adjust the screw until it as close to the rotor surface as possible without touching it.

Jimmy 1995 JimmyLift gate will not open. I can hear the mechanism trying to work. I looked up the instruction in a repair manual. It tell me to remove the rug on the tailgate to expose an access hole...

The rug has a cardboard backing with screws and plastic clips holding it on. First remove all the screws you can find in the trim. You will need a tool like a pickle fork to remove the plastic clips without damaging the card board backing (door card removal tool). The trick here is to pull the clips out of the metal and not the cardboard so not to damage it. Start at the top by the window and it is easier to see the clips with the top loose. I have used my wifes two pronged weed puller with no problems. When you get it all apart you will see that plastic clips hold the rods to the latch on each side as well as to the release mechanism. If the clips are bad replace them. It is important not to slam the hatch or they will pop off again.

I have a 1982 gmc k 1500 pickup and i need to replace the key switch i have the steering wheel removed and there is a plastic cover that i cannot remove without breaking

The plastic cover is attached to the lockplate which has a clip that holds it on the steering column shaft.. Auto Zone rents a lockplate removal tool to push the plate down far enough to remove the clip. There is a pretty heavy spring behind the lockplate.

How to change ignition barrel

You have to remove the Airbag, so take the negative lead off the truck battery. Remove the airbag. remove the steering wheel. You will need a steering wheel puller or some good luck in getting it off without one. Under the steering wheel you will have a retaining plate. It has a spring clip around the center shaft that has to be removed. not real easy. it has a big spring behind the plate you'll have to contend with. Once you get the clip off, remove the plate. You'll have to remove the screws holding the turn signal stalk in place. Remove the screw holding the ignition cylinder in place. The whole thing should slide out now.

On most of the models, there are two jack screws. They are 7 or 8mm. Once the 2 screws are removed you will need to pry on the back of the lens, forward. There are two ball and sockets that need to be released by prying.

I am sorry but there is no trick.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
