SOURCE: High oil Consumption, BMW M5

Look for Castrol TWS 10W60 Motor Oil. This car should not burn so much oil, you need to use a different kind. It is recommended by BMW as well. I also heard the VANOS isnt an issue anymore, can be fixed with a different MAFF. Good luck!

SOURCE: BMW 320i is using 5L of oil every 1000miles no

Try using an automotive dye in the oil the oil has to be going somewhere the dye should reveal the loose gasket or loose oil plug in which the leak may only occur at speed under pressure and not present when stopped

Oil leakage on Mercedes Benz 5.0L engines

oil in the bell housing can be rear main seal and it can also be input shaft seal in the gear box if manual. The sump bolts on the rear main cap and will leak next to the bell housing indicating a main seal . If auto then the seal on the converter will leak and the oil will leak out of the bell housing. If you are convinced that it is a main seal then check that there is no crankcase pressure issues to make it leak. Change the engine oil and clean the area and if the oils is clean then that will indicate engine or gear box. Put a white chalk line across any oil paths and watch for it to cross the chalk and change the chalk colour.

I have a 2003 BMW 325i. We had the oil changed and had discovered a drop of oil under the car the day before. The repair shop replaced our oil pan plug because it was cracked. Today we have 5 or 6 drops...

It could well be a PVC valve. The PVC plumbing on e46s is not one of BMW's best designs, and it needs to be cleaned out every 100k miles if not sooner.
Not likely a rear main. I have never seen a failed rear main seal on a 6 Cyl BMW.

Are you sure it is not power steering fluid? I would be surprised if a 2003 were not leaking a little power steering fluid by now if the hoses have not already been replaced.
Another common oil leak is the hose that feeds oil to the VANOS.
If the leak is toward the rear of the engine, I would look for a valve cover gasket leak.
The service engine soon light is almost certainly unrelated to the oil leak.

Oil leakage leakage is prolific oil clean not burnedany idea what could be problem the leak is from the motor

yes rear main seal. does the oil continue to leak after the engine is shut off? also oil pans can seep oil through them. you need to jack carr off the ground and clean under neath with engine clean. spray off. wipe down till dry. start engine till leak starts. shut off. then inspect for where leak is from.

1994 northstar motor leaking oil from engine block, where could it be coming from

Most likely it is the rear main seal. It is the seal that surrounds the crank shaft as it extends out to the transmission. The rreplacement of this seal involves removing the transmission. You could also have oil leaking from the rear side of the oil pan or the rear of the valve covers. But in most cases you can see this leakage. Therefore it is most likely going to be that rear seal.

2000 gmc both rear tire oil leakage.

You are correct, it's not brake fluid. Check the level in your rear axle, it sounds like you have bad seals in the axles allowing the rear differential gear oil to leak inside the brake drums.
This is a heavy weight oil, 80 or 90 weight. This leakage will ruin your brake pads, and if enough leaks out, your rear differential will blow. The seals aren't expensive, but it's a lot of labor to pull everything apart to get at the seals, plus new rear brakes. My Ford ( and I'm sure your GMC) require removal of the rear axles to change the seals. Good Luck! countrycurt0
