1995 ford contour shifts gears randomly. Sometimes it drives fine for months, other times it does it every day for a week. When at it's worst it is virtually undrivable.

This sounds like an MLP sensor. Manual lever position sensor. These have an integrated board, and at times the circuits contacts lose contact. That explains the random shifting. Ask you technician to scan for those codes.

How to fix ford contour code p0708

this code indicates a problem with the transmission range selected switch, this switch is on the transmission case where the shift cable attaches, when u select a gear it sends a signal to the computer control that u want lets say Reverse by sensing the range selector switch feedback, replace the switch will most likely cure the code, then clear the code and drive a few miles.

Gears of transmission doesn't always shift from park to reverse and then from reverse to drive .the shifter cable was replaced by a ford specialist, and a transmission specialist checked it 3-months ago.Now...

sounds like the bands could be streched i have a similar problem with my holden when we checked it it lines had a huge crack in them from the mechanic not tying them up which ment loosing a huge amount of fluid which then lead to it not changing gears properly or not at all. id be having the lines checked for cracks and the oil pick up checked as if its not picking the fluid up properly the the trans is trying to forse it up also try a different brand of fluid i have found with my car that it dont work properly if the fluid is to thin

Car will not start, will not shift gears no accessory lights will come on like the battery light or oil light. Will crank but does not turn over. 1995 Ford Contour

Sounds like the fule pump is not coming on, and this is because either a fuse that is blown or the acutal pump could be broken. If this is the cause hope for the fuse. It is a much cheaper/easier fix. If it is niether check the wiring/connection on the top of the fule pump this can sometimes be disconected.
