Question about 2002 Cadillac Deville

2 Answers

Pulsating breaks I also have a 2002 Deville and had the problem at 35,000 miles. I changed the pads and rotors on the front even though they looked in great shape. The new rotors and pads solved it for a short while but it came back and is as bad as ever now.

Who else drives this car? Going fast and quick stopping, riding the brake will get the rotors very hot. When they are very hot and you stop and sit with your foot heavy on the brake this will squeeze the rotor at one spot, as hot metal under pressure will bend and distort. This will result in the problem you are having.

Stopping hard in the rain will warp rotors as well.

Brake pulsating after a break job

The rotors must have turned improperly, although you might
loosen the lug nuts and re-tighten them evenly in a star pattern,if
one is tightened fully, then the rest the rotor will warp.

I have had the front rotors resurfaced 2 or 3 times and replaced twice once with toyota parts-the pulsating always reappears after awhile when braking. What up with that?

its the disks or you call them rotors! there warped again harsh braking and stopping from high speed will warp the disks, having them "refased" is a wast of money!! that wont last five minuets,,,,puting on new disks and new pads will put it right, but stoping hard from hight speed will only warp them again also have your "abs" looked at as this could be were the problem is, and not the disk at all,

Well even though you had the rotors turned, they still could be warped and causing the car to shake at a high rate of speed when the brakes are applied. My suggestion is to replace the rotors asap.

Pulsating brakes

i would also like to know, when placing the new brakes in the slider, i had to force it, with light taps, to me i shouldnt have to do this becuase i was under the impresion that the breaks should slide freely. should i grind the edge of the brakes so the slide more freely?

2005 Dodge Durango Front Brake Squeal

Did you buy factory pads or get cheap aftermarket pads? If aftermarket did you get the ceramic? The cheap aftermarket ones tend to squeal pretty bad. Like the last comment on here, you should have your rotors turned whenever you change the pads.

PULSATION WHEN APPLY BRAKES

Even though you replaced the rotors, seems that you will still need to have them resurfaced. This assuming you are experiencing pulsation only when braking.
Hope this helps, Please remember to rate this answer.
