Have you checked the manual? or do you have a warranty? sometimes if you go into a dealership they might help you out... But in all honesty, you should have known, i mean buying a chevy! lol

SOURCE: My 98 s10 is stuck in 4 wheel drive low.

Pull the kick panel on the passenger side. there is a small box mounted there that is the computer that controls the actuator for the 4wd system. this is notorious for problems due in fact that the connector likes to pull out and away from the module. I had the same problem and the solution is simple.. take a long zip tie and get it between a few of the wires and around the module. tie it in and have a nice day.. it wont come off or try to pop out anymore and you should have no issues getting into 2wd, 4wd h, 4wd L.

SOURCE: The 4 wheel drive with a turn knob control will

take the four wheel drive actuator out of the front differential let it hang while still plugged in and have somebody watch and see if it retracts when the 4 whell drive is switched from 2 to 4 whell drive. If not then accuator is probably bad.

Testimonial: "You nailed it. Drove truck to shop under waranty, asked them to check it and they replaced the accuator, 4/wheeling again. Now I know, thanks."

Can i manualy take it out of 4x4

Those older fords you have to put the 4x4 selector into 2H or 2 High on the floor shifter. Then go to the front tires and in the very center of the tire there will be a knob that say Locked and Unlocked. Turn the knob to unlocked on both sides. Then you will not have front wheel dragging on the drive train and only the rear wheels will be the drive tire. TO put it back in 4x4. Turn the knob back to locked on each front tire and put the truck in 4H or 4 High to get 4x4. Only use 4L or 4Low when your stuck to prevent spinning your tires with full power.

Now if your has the automatic locking hubs I would switch them out with manual ones because the automatic ones were problematic where they get stuck or not work at all. It requires replacing the locking hub assembly which isn't that hard to do.

Lincoln Navigator 4wheel drive 1998

See that this is an old problem. Some of the knobs could crack on the backside and allow the knob to rotate on the shaft without turning the shaft at all. If the knob is okay then go underneath the vehicle and disconnect the electric plug on the shift solenoid and Inspect for corrosion on the terminals. There is a problem which can happen if an indicator light burns out in the electric shift models. The length of the shift solenoid plunger is what determines whether you are in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive, or high or low range. If the indicator light burns out, it changes the electric power and position of the shift solenoid plunger.

4 wheel drive

It sound like your trying to turn on black top or concrete. Limited slip four wheel drive trucks, car etc should not be drivin on a hard syrfice with the 4 wheel drive engaged it will drag the 2 wheels when turning and cause the wheel to hop.Depending on the direction your turning 2 wheels will travel faster than the others.

2008 Jeep Compass is stuck in 4 Wheel Drive with exclamation point by the 4 WD indicator...

If you are driving on the highway in 4wd drive the poise may be from the tyres trying to slip and equalise the drive line torque that is building up . Rule of thumb for all 4 wd vehicles is to restrict 4wd to loose surfaces (gravel-snow-ice -grass- mud --any surface that allows the tyres to slip) to relieve the torque wind up.

My 2008 Kia Sorento is stuck in four wheel drive. How do I fix it? Thanks, Bill

I assume that the vehicle has a rotating knob on the left side of the dash for four wheel drive. It may have been put into 4 low by mistake. To get it out, start the vehicle and put it in drive, select 4 low on the 4 wheel drive selector, take your foot off the brake and get the vehicle rolling at a walking pace (1-2 m.p.h.) then move the selector to 4 high, stop the vehicle and move selector to 2 high.

My 2000 chevy blazer is stuck in 4lo any ideas what the problem is

Try starting the vehicle , place the emergency brake on , switch from drive to nuetral. with engine running try to move the 4wd handle. If your handle moves in and out of 4 wheel drive and the selector handle moves into 2wd you need to drive the vehicle to get it out of 4 wheel low otherwise the 4 wheel drive solenoid may be stuck . This is located on the front axle . round with a vacuum line coming off it. Check the vacuum line at the solenoid or it may be the solenoid. Gook luck with your fix

I have a 2004 5-speed Ford Ranger. It is stuck in 4x4 high and the lights on the dash do not register anything when the knob is turned. any suggestions

I would try tapping on the shift motor mounted on the trnasfer case as they have been known to stick at times. I would also make sure you do have the vehicle in neutral and your foot on the brake pedal before trying to unlock.
