Question about 1998 Volvo V70
The battery light on the dashboard is staying on but does not seem to be having any effect on the car running. I ran it with full headlights for an hour and have started it for 3 days since without any problem.
This is probably the carbon brushes in the alternator, that are worn, and thus not functioning correctly.
It is possible, if you find someone with a similar alternator, to just change the brushes at a fraction of the cost of a complete unit.
But it's worth a look, the brushes are located on the back side of the alternator, with two or three screws to remove.
