Sounds like belt slippage. Try some belt dressing on the belts. You can get it at auto parts store.

Rev counter is sitting over 2000 revs when idle, sounds like I have my foot on the accelerator, does anyone have any idea what is causing this and can I fix it myself?

Your idle speed is set too high. This could be a fault in the ECU, you need to have someone with an engine analyzer check it. Obviously a Chevy dealer can do it, but pretty much any auto shop has the code box to read the engine code and check this for you. Most will do it for free and tell you what they find. You might go to Pep Boys, Midas and some other shops and ask them to tell you what they found and how much to correct and decide who is being honest and has the best price to fix it. Someone may just adjust it for free to get get you to come back again when you need real work done.

How to recycle cmputer after reseting CEL

1.let car sit overnight. 2. Start engine, put A/C on high, let it idle for 20-25 minutes, 2, then drive car uninterrupted for 60mph for 10 minutes, 3. slow down to 25 mph for 4 minutes, come to a complete stop with foot on brake let it idle for 2 minutes, 4. drive again at 30 mph for 8 minutes, come to a complete stop let it idle with foot on brake for 3 minutes. 4. Drive at 40 mph (turn off overdrive) for 6 minutes. 5. Drive at 20mph for 3 minutes at a time, each time coming to a complete stop with foot on brake for 2 minutes. Do this 4 times. Let the car cool overnight and repeat entire process. Then check status of systems with a code scanner.

Renault megane engine noise at high rev

No driving will only further damage the parts that are bad and could damage other parts making it even more costly. and it sounds like tranmission problem.

Nocking sound

OK let's do a little check. with the car in a clear area and no kid's or anyone around the car get in and start the engine. Now do you hear the noise with the car sitting at an idle.Let's say yes then put your foot on the brake and put the car in gear do you hear the knock if so hold the brake secure make sure no one is in front of the car and apply the gas lightly if the noise stop's then you have a loose torque converter to flywheel the bolt's are not tight..Now if you hear the knock and it's high pitch metallic then chance's are it's a rod or lifter in the engine. If the noise is a thumping dull noise you have a bad crankshaft. My guess is the torque converter because you said the transmission was worked on and a lot of time's without Loctite and the proper tourque the converter bolt's will work loose.GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELP'S

Good afternnon, I have a landrover 110 diesel 1987 the engine wont rev initially but if you hold down the accellerator it will slowly pick up.After engine has reached high revs when you remove your foot...

Its possible the fuel lift pump is faulty. remove the fuel filter, if you see that its half full of fuel, then this will tell you the pump is at fault.
There is a lever on the fuel lift pump, turn the ngine till you feel itgo harder, then feel the travel of the pump and if it is firm or easy to operate.
Lift pump failure is common on these.
