I have just purchased a Chevrolet Kalos 1.2 SE 2007. I noticed when leaving the garage yesterday that the brakes on the back right hand wheel were making a grinding noise and shortly after the ABS light...

If the car sat for a long period, rust will form in the brake drums resulting in noisy brakes . Speed sensor signal loss is triggering ABS light and will not affect normal braking. Try having the back brakes adjusted to avoid premature wear of the front brake pads. (Brake Bias will be obtained between front and rear brakes)

2000 Kia Sportage runs hot. Garage gave $800

first thing is take it too another garage, that is way too much money too fix an overheating problem!!
now if you want too try too fix it your self you still need too find out just whats causing the problem,
like is it a bad water pump
,or stuck thermostat or blown head gasket, or electrict fan not working or a leak!!
after youe have found the problem,go too auto zone and get a detialed print out for free on how too fix it!!
and remember you will need the tools too do it also!!!

Handbrake wont shift

It appears even when you release the hand brake, the wheels are not free to rotate.

Check for possible seizure; i.e
  • The hand brake cable
  • Wheel cylinder or caliper pistons
  • Brake shoes or pads
or any out of link parts for the hand brake mechanism.

Problem with electronic hand brake screeching and showing an error on the display on my LR3 land rover discovery 3 , 2004 discovery 3 2.7 TDv6 HSE, its out of warranty (have done 22,000 miles) and have...

Just had this same issue with my 57 plate Discovery SE - great guy from the AA took the small plate off that sits immediately to the rear of the hanbrake button in the central console - he then hooked a wire around the cable you see in there and gave it a mighty tug. The result is that my brake is now disengaged (rather than stuck-on as before) and LR will need to cure the source of the problem under warranty. Car is automatic so can use "park" until full repair.

Abs and hand brake light

Check your master cylinder switch in the res. is not stuck down. When started is the light off until you go over 15 mph? If so check your abs relay. Good luck
