Question about 2001 Audi TT

Open Question

Hello! I want to replace my tail light myself.....

Hi--I want to replace my tail light bulb in my '01 audi roadster tt and when I looked in the door for the tail light in the trunk, I wondered can I put a bulb in the or do i need to take the red outside car reflector cover. I really do'nt have funds to go to the $$$dealer right now and I can get a single tail light bulb at Advance Auto for $5. SO, if I need to pull the plastic cartridge out to put the bulb in, is it possible and if so, how do you do it?

SOURCE: 2000 Audi a4 headlight bulb replacement

The easiest way to do it is to pull the headlight out of the car. This isn't hard, but you'll have to have a T30 Torx bit to do it. There are three bolts that secure the headlight. Two are on top of the headlight - you'll see them right up there on top when you open the hood.

The third is harder to find. Look where the outer upper corner of the headlight meets the top of the fender, above the corner indicator. There is a lip on the fender that runs all the way back to the base of the windshield, where the edge of the hood sits when it's closed. There is a round hole in that lip near the headlight (just behind it). Shine a light down in there and you'll see the third Torx bolt. Take that out and you can slide the headlight assembly forward. You shouldnt' have to take it fully out of the car, just take the bolts out and move it forward.

Then remove the dust cap on the back of the headlight, pop the connector off the bulb, undo the spring clip holding the bulb, and remove it. Install the new bulb (wipe down the glass portion with your t-shirt to get any skin oils off it, as they'll burn it up quickly), and then reassemble in the reverse order.

SOURCE: Audi TT HID bulb needs replacing

You can change the bulb easily yourself in about five minutes, especially on the passenger side. You may want to disconnect the battery, though I don't know if that is necessary. You may also want to handle the bulbs wearing latex or nitrile gloves so as to not get your skin oil on the glass.

1. Remove the decorative cover that conceals the Coolant reservior. There is a single philips screw near the firewall that holds the cover down.

2. Find the back of the headlight and pull the metal wire clip that holds the back of the headlight cover toward the engine. Remove the cover.

3. Look inside and find the back of the HID bulb--it will be toward the outside fender. Twist the connector until it separates.

4. There is a retainer ring that holds the bulb in. Again, twist that until it comes loose. The bulb should come right out.

5, Put the new bulb in, noticing the notch is on top. Also, attach the retainer ring. It is marked "Top" to help orient it. Reattach the connector with a twist.

6. Make sure everything is firmly in place. Reconnect your battery and test the lights. Finish putting anything else back on.

Good luck.

SOURCE: 2001 audi tt -- trunk release and gas cap release don't work

Hi, yes there is. To release the trunk - look on the centre console, just rearward of the front seats and you will notice a separate rectangular section in the plastic, if you lift this out you will find a cable release for the trunk underneath. To open the fuel filler cap manually, look inside the car just behind the rear light on the same side as the fuel filler and you will notice a flap in the interior trim, which is to allow access to the rear lamp. Open this and then looking towards the top you should see a loop of orange plastic - pull this towards the rear of the car to release the fuel filler.
Hope that helps Matt..

01' audi tt quattro 225 roadster wont start! EPC LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ARE ONE

What is the fuel quality? If you had gasoline with ethanol additive sitting in the tank for months, it will be very difficult to get it to burn at a fast enough rate to run the engine. Broken-down gasoline is straw-yellow in color and does not have as strong an odor as fresh gasoline. It may also contain solid sediments that can clog carburetors or fuel injectors.
If your fuel is degraded, change the fuel filter, drain the tank, and try again with fresh fuel. A quick test for this condition is to spray starter fluid or WD-40 into the throttle body. If the engine starts quickly, then runs poorly or dies when the starter fluid is exhausted, your problem is bad fuel.

How do i remove the rear bulbs in an audi tt 4x4

Access to the tail light cluster should be through panels in the rear corners of the vehicle. Remove the panel and you can remove the tail light cluster to replace the bulbs. This is the position on most sedans, unless, like on pick-ups, the tail light lenses have screws which allow the lenses to be removed to change the bulbs.

The hazard light warning button in the middle of your dash is actually a relay that often fails, causing this problem. New switch required.

Fuel cap and boot release buttons not working

Hello,
I have a 2001 Audi TT Audi TT roadster, 87,000 miles. I love the car, but like all cars, things happen.

Open your checkbook, It is the command module , under your back glass, where the top goes , you will see a small door cut into the felt. Mine got wet and started a whole chain of events.

Seal that Window Good. 800$ repair to replace the comman module.

1. Windows were going up and down 1/4" all random times.
2. The Gas Release and Trunk Release buttons stop working
3. Alarm would go off at odd times.
4. Trunk would not open automatically.

To open the Trunk, behind the passenger seat is a small box, open it with you key and you will see the manual trunk release

To open your gas cap, on the passenger side of the trunk, you will see a small felt opening under the gas cap. Open it and pull back decently hard and the gas cap will open.

Good Luck.

Radio won't work

Had the same problem with my TT Roadster after giving it a jump. They dont tell you this but there is a fuse on the back of the stereo that goes out, that's the fuse that needs to be replaced. I just took it to a local car stereo shop (because they were the only one's to have to tools to take the remove the radio from the dash) and had them replace it, it cost me.....$10 and i was out of there in 10 minutes.
