It is located on the underside of the engine behind the power steering pump i think it is inside a plastic housing that should take a 13mm wrench to remove you may want to put it up on ramps to get to it. It may be a tight squeeze when you remove the pump and belts. good luck..... oh and you will loose most of the fluid in the engine when you do it...

How to check transmission fluid level

Most 1995-on VW models don't have a transmission fluid dipstick for checking the transmission fluid level. To fill and check the level of the VW automatic transmission fluid you have to remove a plug on the side or bottom (location depends on model and if you have an automatic vs. manual transmission) of the transmission drain pan. The factory manual refers the expensive VAG 1924 special tool for pumping the VW automatic transmission fluid into the oil pan.

Thermostat location on a 1995 vw jetta

The thermostat on the 2.0 l ABA motor is located in a black plastic housing which resides on the UNDERSIDE of the motor, on the passenger side. It is normally hidden by the power steering pump, which must be moved out of the way in order to access the thermostat. Don't lose the o-ring!

Im trying to find my thermostat where is it

Follow the upper radiator hose to the block. The thermostat is located under the flanged fitting that the radiator hose is hooked to. Always replace this part on VW's when you replace the t-stat. The are known to start leaking, and no sense in having to do this again.
