A rock from a mower shattered the tailgate glass. Can the glass be replaced in a 1990 Ford Bronco 2? I have another tailgate but would like to know how to take out and replace the glass without breaking[hopefully].
You need two people to take the tailgate off but you have to undo the struts and itll pop off after that i would take the plastic off the inside panel or you could use a ranger tailgate can cut the b2s in have and get some new glass... ive it done it before makes things easier but little more complicated to put in... but you just need some rubber stripping, heat gun and time if you want more insturctions go to broncoiicorral.com

You will likely have to remove the panel from the inside with the window up. Once you have the panel off I would try to have some one hold down on the switch while you tap the motor with a hammer. Of course make sure the latches are all the way closed as if the door is not closed all the way the window will not roll down as it has safety switches to keep this from happening.
If you still can not get it down then you will need to unbolt the regulator and let it down that way.

You don't need to remove the dash. Look under the dash where the switch is located. on the side of the switch you will see a small button to push in. While pushing in on the button pull the knob as though you were going to turn the lights on. At this time the stem should release from the switch. Undo the bezel and drop the switch down so you can see to unplug the wires. Replace wires to new switch and reverse the procedure to install. You don't need to push the button in when replacing the stem.

The rear window for that top is a seperate curtain.
Replacement is best left to a professional.
You should cantact an automotive trim shop (upholstery) for them to quote it.
The way it is replaced, you have to take the top loose, roll it forward, replace the window curtain, reinstall the top. Depending on the condition if the top, it may need replacement also. That is best determined by the shop that does the work.
This is not recommend as a DIY project. I worked in a trim shop for years, and they are not easy.

Sprayed heavy duty silicone on the gasket for several days. Used a street sign made into a paddle[been in my possession more that 20yrs] it came out without cracking or breaking. Taped up the broken window and removed it.
The window went in the gate without an issue.
