I have a 2001 gp 800 R wave runner when you have it hooked to the garden hose gets proper cooling and runs great but when you take it too the lake after awhile it wants to die and act like its overheated...

when it is hooked to a garden hose the water pressure will be acting as the engine cooling pump and so it will work ok. On the lake because the pump has failed there is no suction action to pull the water into the cooling jackets of the motor and so it will overheat.. I would get to the cooling pump and replace the impellor or he whole pump. If it has not been run for some time then the rubber impellor gets ripped apart when the engine starts . The same effect as an outboard that has not been run for some time.

I have a 2008 Honda Pilot. We have had issues since day 1 with the air conditioning blowing cool air, not cold. When we realized something was wrong we took the car into the dealer and they drained the...

Well I have a few Ideas for you. One, it has a leak and your dealer needs to find it..... Now if he is using a recover machine that weighs out the same refrigerant as he is putting in, I would say, ok, no leak you have other issues. One is has he used or is he using die in the oil. If so he needs to replace the receiver/drier replace the TXV valve and run a cleaning (flush) agent through your system. If you do not have a leak then there is too much oil in the system and he is adding to that oil with die every time he is adding die to the system. If you pull out all the freon then add it back the oil gets pulled out of the evap and condenser coils for a brief time, as you run the A/c it will work it's way back into the evap. where it hurts the systems ability to cool. Next Idea, is to teach you how to put freon in it your self. But first have the dealer run the flush through the system replace the drier, and see how long it last then. If he does that and that does not fix it. learn how to add freon, it is very easy.

My air conditioner works but does not cool . i have added freon the last two years and fixed the problem ,did the same thing this year but did not help .

When self adding freon after it leaks out you get air trapped in the system. After adding freon a couple of times the air expands not leaving room for the needed freon. To continue adding freon with air tapped will knock the compressor out pretty quickly, there's not enough room for both & the air is keeping the freon from being able to cool properly give the false indication of being low on freon. The freon you are adding has the dye added to assist in finding the leak since freon does not evaporate nor dissipate it its being leaked out. A black light will assist locating the leak. The best thing is to have the unit checked & serviced by a mechanic...he'll charge about $ 150.00 to check for leaks, remove the old freon...his machine will tell him how much air its trapped in the system by how little freon is removed. For the service fee he will replace valves & gaskets, where needed, correcting most leaks. After sucking the system down & recharging the problem should be corrected.

Ac not cooling blows colder when driving and not much at idle added freon same problem, after adding freon check engine light came on?

RCV Valve is causing this issue. Refrigerant Control Valve. $40.00 part but most mechanics will want to replace your compressor.

After my 92 rodeo runs awhile it falls on its face then starts to idle at about 2500 rpm and wont stop. When I shut it off and try to restart it it starts real hard and acts like its flooded and blows...

THROTTLE BODY needs to be taken apart and cleaned. Hand clean the sensor and idle valve, they are electric do not soak them, check them also, Idle valve likes to stick and position sensor likes to go out. HUNT

Have you checked for freon leaks. It sounds like it's low and the pressure switch drops out. Try adding freon.

a refurbished compressor should be fine and will be cheaper than new, your should also replace the orfice tube (expansion), and the dryer, and the seals at the connection points.
