I need more information. Do you mean that when you turn the key the horn blows and the lights flash on their own? Does your car have an after market alarm system? If it does you may have a problem with the alarm system. Does the car even make a sound like it is cranking? If not I would join an auto club that has free towing and bring the car to some one that installs aftermarket alarms and stereos and see if they can fix it.
Alarm module may be faulty. Or your keyfob is out of sync with the Beetle. Disconnect the battery from the beetle, and wear ear muffs when you do or ear plugs as the horn is likely to go off. Remove battery from key fob and let both sit for 20 minurtes. Then put the batteries back in /connected- this should get both back into synchronization. If they do not resynchronize, the alarm module is suspect.
vw beetles do not have a temp gauge so instead when the car is cold the light is blue at normal temp no light when over heating or low coolant red light and it beeps, you need the right coolant for your vw it is pink in color and some napas have it (Not DEX Cool) and you probably have a coolant leak, usually a plastic flang at rear of cylinder head goes bad
what engine do you have? Gas? Diesel? VW takes special oil. its all listed in the owners manual. Most MOBIL1 products are ok if they meet the spec. It will say something like VW 500.00 or VW502.00 for gas models.
There is a electric solenoid to pull the cable removing the pin to open the lid when the button at the driver door is activated. But this is known for unreliable due to the design.
In order to release the lid manually, you can pull the trim panel in the trunk at the right side to get the mechanism releasing the cable.
Back yard mechanics should be able to replace the solenoid, but instead let them fabricate a handle at the luggage area to manually release the lid. This will be cheaper and more reliable.
"2 safe" means that you have entered the wrong code twice. Leave the igniton switched on for about an hour and it will reset to - - - (three small lines) then you can enter the correct code. If you dont have the code you will need to speak to your vw dealer
The fuel lines are pressurized so you will need to relieve the pressure before you try and remove the filter or you will get a face full of gas. The filter comes off by pushing the fuel line toward the filter and then pushing the quick release button on the fuel line. The fuel line should then decouple - the filter lives under the car near the right rear tire (just in front) Good luck and be careful
