Question about 1996 Volkswagen Golf

3 Answers

My Toyota Corolla 2001 is making a grinding noise (seems to be the passenger side) that intensifies as I accelerate. It ind of clicks too. I don't think its the CV joints (the boots appear to be fairly new and it doesn't get worse when the car turns. I'm thinking maybe the axle, any suggestions? I took the tire off and the axle apeared a little wobbly--is that normal?

You may have a loose spindle nut. Try to tighten it up. No it is not normal there should not be any wiggle, if you wiggle vertically. If it wiggles a bit horizontally it indicates worn steering joints, and unless it wiggles too much horizontally(left to right) then you should be concerned. Two possiblity, a bad axle bearing or a loose spindle nut( the big nut it the middle)

Wheel bearing can cause this also they will damage axle if bad enough.

2001 toyota corolla I have a loud roaring seens like it from the right front wheel.

THIS NOISE IS CAUSED BY A POSSIBLE WHEEL BEARING
WHEN YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE YOU SHOULD HEAR A ROARING NOISE AND AS YOU GO FASTER THE NOISE WILL GET LOUDER AND WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE THE NOISE WILL FADE IN AND OUT. THIS IS AN INDICATION THAT THE WHEEL BEARING IS BAD.
ALSO ANOTHER WAY WOULD BE TO JACK UP THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, BLOCK OFF THE REAR WHEELS SO THE CAR DOES NOT ROLL BACK ON YOU, THEN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND GO TO THE WHEEL PUT YOUR HAND ON THE STRUT BASE AND SPIN THE TIRE WITH YOUR OTHER HAND YOU SHOULD FEEL A GRINDING NOISE. IF SO THE WHEEL BEARING ON THAT PARTICULAR SIDE IS BAD AND IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED

Rhythim dull noise wshen accelerating

well,if it doesnt change with the wheel turned a little it might be a rear wheel bearing or even a couple of loose lugs on a wheel,or even a brake pad worn down to the rivets, can u give a better description of the noise? (metallic, dull thumping,etc...)

I have a 2001 Corolla that makes a clicking sound on the passenger side when the car is moving. The rate of the clicking increases with speed. Any ideas on what it might be?

First it could be anti-rattle clip on the brake pad clattering. If it's louder when you turn, It is likely the CV joint needs replacing.

I accelerate my 2000 neon, and it vibrates and get grinding noise

Check the front drive axles and boots. A bad cv (constant velocity) joint can cause this.

Cv axle

Probably the wheel bering. If your going down the road and turn to the passenger side and it gets worse, its the drivers side bering and visa versa.
