Question about 2005 Volvo XC90
Two days ago I took my XC90 to service and got new brakes, then today I first got an error message saying "Brake system service requested" and then it said "Engine system service required". What's wrong with my car?And is it safe for me to drive 1000 miles tonight with this error?

WHAT HAPPENED IS WHEN YOU SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED YOU (RESET THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER) AND THE SERVICE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING

on Most cars it means to take it in for routine maintenance, Oil change etc. A lot of newer cars have this feauture to remind you to do the oilchanges.

Check two items, chassey grounds by battery, transmission and starter. Also, check to make sure the alternator is providing enough voltage, should be around 14 amps. Had a similar problem with my 2002 XC70, replacing the alternator fixed it! I used the Car Talk website to find a good local mechanic vs. the stealer.

I have the same problem with my S60. I have since found that some of the problems is caused by the accelerator pedal sending confusing signals to the ECU. I am in the process of replacing the pedal and rheostat assembly to see what improvement there is. By the way, if you press the trip meter reset button the gauges will come alive again
I recently spoke to the only technician that seems to know about this problem. When I told him about the gauges dropping and in my car the headlights come on and I cannot open the windows he immediately knew what the problem was. He asked my if I fitted a bluetooth device to the car, which I have. I fitted a bluetooth car kit some time ago. He said he had the same problem with another car and after removing the car kit the problem was solved. I have done a lot of research on this problem and you are welcome to contact me for more information at email@example.com

SOURCE: i have xc90 d5 there
This is probably due to a problem with the swirl flap actuator arm - if you remove the top of the engine cover (the plastic bit) and look at the top, left front of the engine, do you see a plastic arm (approx 70 - 100 mm long) disconnected?
