Junk yard electronics are always a high risk. Check you local parts store they will be cheaper than the dealer.

Wiper delay won't work

Sitting in your vehical, front driver's side. Look down to where your "LEFT FOOT" is. Undernealth the dashboard, just in front of the door. Their is a plastice pop-off panel cover. ON THE INSIDE PANEL IS ANOTHER WIPER DELAY MODULE. Take your "Hidden Wiper Relay" Module out an bring it to your local junk yard so you make sure it's a match...That should do it.. The module is just about the size and shape as a pack of cigarettes.. No Special Tools needed... Just a flat head screwdriver..
I had to show it to someone who worked at the junk yard because it was gone from every vehical I looked at... Plug it in your truck before you pay if you can. $15.00 dollars...
Good Luck.

Service 4 wd switch warning

If you are tired of listening to the annoying beep beep beep and watching your display flash , here is the fix
1) do not replace sensor up to $45.00
2) do not replace harness up to $200
3) do not replace vic range from $300 to $850.00
4) The fix is free and takes about 20 minutes
If you get under the unit locate the speed sensor lower left side of transfere case. Then run fingers to the top front portion of the transfere case (small hands are a bonus) you will then feel another wiring harness follow that to the connection point on transfere case on the top front. There will be a connection that is the same as the speed sensor just lift locking tab and remove.I recommend cutting the wires and silicone them for a water tight seal. To cover the male end of plug on case do the same as previous. It has no bearing on the drivetrain and will not harm anything I have several thousand miles on mine both on and offrroad.Mine is a 5.2 with 256 on the clock all wheel drive.hope this helps

My digital screen reads:service 4wd switch

  • The 4 wheel drive switch tells the VEC- Vehicle Information Center - weather you are in 4 high or 4 low.
  • It's on top of the transfer case between drivers side from and rear doors.
  • The VEC has been know to cause this problem to so if the switch does not fix it then the VEC might have a loose wire or be malfunctioning. The VEC plagued the Grand Cherokees for a few years.
  • This is a dealer part.
  • Also check the transfer case fluid level while there. Pull the top plug and fill it until the fluid just barely seeps out.

Dog chewed off seat belt in front and replaced with junk yard now thejunk yard replacement will no retrack out

Unfortunately the junk yard takes parts from wrecked vehicles. The other problem is sometimes these vehicles are exposed to the weather soyou may have rust etc. in the track. Spray WD-40 inside and tap lightly while trying to pull belt out.

SERVICE 4 WD SWITCH Apears on information center screen. Where is this switch and what is it?

The switch is located on top of the tranfer case which is behind the trans. The switch is used for the transfer case to apply or disigage the input clutch under certain offroad uses. I have seen many 4wd switchs fail on those cars before.

What kind of oil do I put into the transfer case? Is that why the computer keeps saying check 4 wheel drive?

no, DO NOT use gear oil. The transfer case uses the same type of automatic transmission fluid that the transmission uses. Is the display saying "service 4x4 switch"? If so it is common and the 4WD indicator light switch is bad and needs replaced. It's only purpose is to tell the driver info center what 4 wheel drive mode the transfer case is in. This switch will not affect the function of the 4 wheel drive. The correct fluid for the transfer case is +4 automatic transmission fluid.

Noise in transfer case or front differential

i had the same problem.. it is the vacuum switch on the transfer case. the switch is stuck open and supplying vacuum to the vacuum diaphram under the battery box. the switch is located on the upper side of the transfer case ( not the front differential) which is located driver side of the transmission. the switch cost me about $25.00. I replaced it myself. if you do your own mechanical work you can get it done just be patient.
